This wasn't going to be something

Track 1, Roots and 5ths
to share here, but I think the ideas here are kinda cool. It's very repetitive, and just consists of the same progression repeated 7 times, but I think if I were to build something else around it, it could become a song. I honestly wasn't really paying a lot of attention, as I was sort of half watching some Star Trek and half playing around in Ableton, but I've found when I do that, and listen to the ideas later, I am often pleasantly surprised, at least by certain things. Track 1 was where I started, using an 'Analog Dreams' synth, in Kontakt (hence the super clever title, lol). This instrument isn't actually tuned like all the others, with every note appearing a 4th higher than they actually sound, so we're in Cminor. The progression is really basic, but does have some interesting rhythms, as most of the dyads are held out for a full bar or more, but some for only 3 beats, which gives it a bit of a wobbly, off-kilter feeling, with the resolutions not feeling super obvious, which is a kind of cool effect. Track 2 was the next instrument added, which just used some synth stabs in Strobe2, which played a melody of sorts, trying to accent the changes by landing on root notes when Track 1 changed.

Track 2, Synth Stabs

Track 3 sort of does the same thing as 2, harmonizing at a

Repeating 3 Note Line, Track 4
few points, but also doing its own thing at times. It uses a synth-string sound, so the hits aren't as obvious and upfront as Track 2. Track 4 provides the constantly repeating 3 note line, which wound up having a creepy, sci-fi show sort of vibe, which wasn't intentional. Track 5 is only used on the F chords, and just swells in, then disappears. Track 6 comes in playing actual 3 note chords, sticking to our progression, but obviously filling out the dyads to be complete chords. Track 7 sticks to chord tones too, but arpeggiates them out over each measure, using a very ambient sounding LABS instrument, so it sort of blurs into a pad-esque sound. Finally, we have Track 8, which is another synth string track, which swells in throughout, again accenting the changes.

Hope you enjoy the random creation! Thanks for listening!
