'Cloudsy' - New Original Music - Another Creation, Playing Around w/ ROLI Drums That I Rarely Use - Electronic/Instrumental + Walkthrough
This was really just a session in which
I started playing around with some ROLI drums and Arturia Synth demos, but I think there are some cool things here, though it DEFINITELY needs some mixing and level adjustments, as all the layered synths just sort of became a cloud by the time I was finished, haha. I figured I would record quite a few parts from the various synth demos, and then later could use them or remove them as needed, and add other instruments if I wanted to. The ROLI drums came with Strobe2 and the ROLI Library, all of which were included as part of the purchase of the ROLI Seaboard "5D" MIDI keyboard. I sometimes use them, particularly for hi-hats and stuff, but I haven't spent a lot of time with the snares/kicks/percussion sounds. However, there is a lot there, and the effects and various parameters that can be altered can result in some pretty great sounds, so I'll need to use them more, and explore the library more generally. Tracks 8, 9 and 10 are the drums, with kicks in one, snares in another, and finally a separate track for the hats and cymbals. I feel like having them separate is the way to go, as the levels seem to vary quite a bit between the various hits, so having them in one track makes things a bit difficult.

Tracks 1 through 5 are the various Aturia synths,
all of which are bounced to audio, as the demos end after 20 minutes, so if you don't remember which preset you used, or the changes made, you'll have to start from scratch. The basic progression is made up of 8 bars, 1 chord per 2 bars. We begin very diatonically, with Dmin, to Bb, F, and C. However, the second section starts on G, down to F, to Eb, and Csus2. The other synths around these have some interesting things going, which are a bit lost in the cloudiness. A lot of these chords become 6, sus2/sus4, and maj7/min7 chords via the other tracks adding some extensions throughout. There's also a synth playing little ascending lines, which actually turns that G in the 8th bar of each progression into Lydian sound, along with the F afterwards, which gives the feeling that we've changed keys, before returning to the beginning. Track 11 was the last addition, adding a shaker from the 'Shaka' demo from Klevgrand.
A bit of a random creation, but hope you enjoy reading about the process of playing around in Ableton!
