I didn't really do much

music-wise last night as I've been insanely swamped with Splinterlands related stuff for the recent release of the SPS token. So I figured we'd have today be a throwback (I guess Wayback Wednesday?), and tomorrow I'll try and have some new stuff to share here. I first started recording music in high school, though the first attempts were on some $99 hand held digital recording device, which was so difficult to actually export onto a computer and use. At some point after that, I started making drum parts using Fruity Loops and plugging my guitar directly into my laptop (it had a headphone-jack sized input, so I would convert the quarter inch cable to it). This was what I did for probably two or three years, before realizing there were more efficient ways, haha.

Listen to Bucho Maximo here...

At some point the computer

on which I ran that old pirated copy of Fruity Loops broke down, and I was without digital drums to record and jam with. I found some weird little free application, called Doggiebox, which I then used for a few years. The sounds were generally better, but it still was difficult to make any drum parts that felt realistic. This is one of those songs using Doggiebox, which I still really like overall. I was also beginning to experiment with key changes and this song has some weird ones. The beginning part is in Cmaj (with a constant hitting of F# to add some weirdness), before a little pre-Verse, which uses a bVi, bVii and V in C, but then modulating to Bmin. When I went back and listened to this recently, I was kind of surprised, and really liked that move... maybe I'll try and use it in something new, hehe.

Hope you enjoy today's throwback!
