I came across this music video of 'Blackbird.' a Beatles cover performed by Gentri. This vocal group is a gentleman's trio of adult contemporary music. The more I listen to their music, the more I love them. Take a listen and enjoy the beautiful blended voices and fresh piano arrangement of this song.

This song was originally written by Paul McCartney as a an encouragement of the black movement in America. But it's message goes much further. Here is a brief commentary.

Have you ever felt like the blackbird.

If you have been bullied you know. If you been physically or mentally abused you have lived it. If you have been a CPS foster child sold or trafficked it has been your life. The elderly who are shoved away by society know the pain as does those who are cruelly stereotyped in prejudice. Most of us have been the blackbird at some point in our lives.

Where your voice is never heard

This song is for the oppressed, broken hearted, abused and left behind. For those who have suffered by the hand of the CPS or have PTSD. For those who were never allowed to reach their dreams or live life. For those who suffer humiliation and rejection in silence. This is your song.

You waited for this moment to arise

Our of the cold dark night and death, your time has come. Your moment has arrived. Your brokenness is no more. The pain and fear will not enchain you any longer. The emotional baggage has been worked through and discarded. Gone is the abuse and pain and oppression from others. You are free.

All your life you were only waiting for this moment to arise.

Spread your wings to the skies.

Broken wings can learn to fly Sunken eyes can learn to see. You have found healing and hope. You can dream it and do it. Nothing will stop you as you reach to the skies... and live!
