Bangers for Steemit Week 12 (I'm a potato edition)

(Edited)

Hey there. I'm taken a break from laying in bed and tweaking my nipples to hop back on here and write out another music recommendation post. Apparently I'm up to week 12, and considering that I should probably be more at like week 16 by now, I'm doing an excellent job, clearly. I'll attribute that to my wonderful health that keeps making me feel like a mummified nutsack who has been chewed on by a homeless man. But, I'm sure you guys don't wanna hear about that shit. But, I bet you guys do want to hear about all the wonderful music I've been listening to lately. Oh, and shout out to Spotify for giving me some pure stinky ass recommendations lately, by the way. Had to be some kind of fucking caveman and go actively search for music I'd want to list on here, my lord. Anyways, lets just get into the tunes.

1. Jason Richardson: Fragments (Feat. Mark Halcomb, Luke Holland & Lukas Magyar)

If you're into technical metal and or Djent, then this shit is going to be a fat boner jam for you. This song comes from Jason Richardson, who'm some of you may or may not know of. He was a former guitarist for Born of Osiris and Chelsea Grin, and is currently a member of All That Remains. He does, however, also do his own solo band project which is what we have here. Most of the tracks he's released are in collaboration with other musicians, including this one. He brought in Mark Halcomb from Periphery as well as Lukas Magyar, who happens to be Veil of Maya's new vocalist who often sounds like the dollar store version of Spencer from Periphery. Overall, this track slaps pretty damn good. I love the guitar work Jason does throughout, and everything just flows pretty nicely.

2. Megosh: Checkerboards & Cigarettes

I mentioned earlier in this post that Spotify has been giving me some bad song samples lately, but this was one of the few that actually fucking bopped the tip of my penis pretty damn hard. Sound wise, I'm not really sure what I would compare these guys to. The music itself is sort of a melodic progressive style that dips in and out of being metal. My fiancee pointed out that the vocalist for this band reminded her of the vocalists from The Used, and after listening to a few of their tracks I would agree there are some similarities between them. It's definitely more of an alternative/indie style of singing, which I think fits pretty well. While this band isn't going to be flooding your scrotum with pure testosterone or anything, this shit is pretty nice to listen to while driving or going for a walk to chill out a bit.

3. And Hell Followed With: This Night Is The Coroner's

I found this band just the other day, and god damn did it get my nipples nice and hard for rubbing after hearing it. I've always had a particular soft spot for grindcore/deathcore music, but have a hard time finding tolerable bands in those genres. Especially grindcore music, as most of it really does suck the dirtiest of asshole. However, this band is fucking great and I would say they definitely fall into the grindcore/deathcore genre. They remind me of a way better Annotations of an Autopsy, which was one grindcore band I listened to a lot back in my highschool days. If you want something solid to jam to at the gym, or just to put on while you beat your captive basement gimp with a dildo, this is your shit.

4. Belay My Last: The Downfall

This song isn't something I just recently found, but, fuck it. I feel like including it because I've been listening to these guys since I was a teenager, but just got back into this album (Their only one, sadly) in recent times. This is the epitome of mid to late 2000's deathcore music, in my opinion. This band has made me hard more times than I can count with their technical skills and unique tones. This band as well as As Blood Runs Black influenced me a lot not only with my musical tastes but also with my ideas on writing music as a teenage guitarist. I recently got back into playing a few months ago, and I can definitely still notice the impact that these bands had on me as I try to write my music. Sadly, this band split up pretty shortly after dropping this album and they just never fully took off. It's honestly a shame, as they were and are super fucking underrated. I highly recommend anyone into deathcore or metal in general give this a listen. The song isn't actually 9 minutes long, by the way. It ends at 4:19, but around the 7:46 mark has a short recording of them doing acapella type music for some reason.

Anyways, there's my recommendations for this week, you fucking virgins. Hopefully you find one or two tracks that you enjoy. I try to keep the genres kind of open so people can find at least one thing, but I've been in a very metal mood obviously. I'll try to stay more consistent with these posts, but no promises from me because I often feel like the black death decided to make me butt chug a bottle of rum while also making me chew on glass. If you've found any cool music, feel free to drop it in the comments as I'm always open to checking out others recommendations.

Until next time. Later!

first one i dig the djenty feel on it, but i'm not really a fan of the melodic portions of the vocals. I do like how the singer is just kinda hanging out in his members only jacket in the video though.

Megosh kinda does it for me but i think the vocals would get on my nerves after a while. I dunno, i'll dig into it a bit more later - see of the other tracks are as good as this on... Dig the thriller jacket in the video

And Hell Followed With... not a fan of cookie monster doing stand-in vocals, but they do have a lot of vocal variety including something that sounds like Dani Filth did some of them. Good musicianship though, this would work in the gym

Belay my last: dig it, this is not new to me either. The breaks in the tempo are interesting but have actually irritated me in the past when i was gymming away, be mid set and then the motivation just disappears when a rogue jazz number fires up.

If you had to choose a fav of these 4.... I presume it would be Belay my Last?

Yeah, there's a reason why I said he's the dollar store version of the singer from Periphery. Not a huge fan of him, prefer the old Veil of Maya singer. I've bitched about him sucking fat ass on a different one of these posts not too long ago.

And, for sure Belay My Last. Way too many good memories with friends while listening to them in highschool. And, them helping to form a style of playing for me means a lot for sure. I don't objectively think they're the best band or anything, but certainly one of my favorites.
