Creedence Clearwater Revival - Fortunate Son

Hi,

today I was in #rockclassics mood. This # was created by my friend @uwelang, one of the biggest #music lovers on this chain.

Today I listened to Vietnam War songs. Well, the songs are mostly against the war, which I think you know.

The most iconic for me is Fortunate Son by Creedence Clearwater Revival. Maybe a Jimmy Hendrix can come close.

It is a protest against the politicians and their decisions as what they decide impact the masses and not themselves or their children. The case which the song was based upon the marriage of David Eisenhower with Julie Nixon. Yes their family names fit to the presidents as they are descendants of them.

Do you think one of them have seen the war? I doubt it.

I like also a cover which was full of critic as it was played at a Veterans Day event. Fogerty, who wrote it, says it fits, as he was also a veteran.

Here is it:

Hey ya Alex

Fortunate Son wouldn't have been my first choice of Vietnam songs. Surely a top 10, but for me it'd have to be Country Joe and the Fish and 'Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die' rag, Barry McGuire and Eve of Destruction, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young with Ohio (not specifically Vietnam) or Buffalo Springfield Stop Children.

Let the record show that I enlisted in the Navy in '71 AFTER my draft papers for the Army showed up.

Thanks, Alex. Music I listen to on a regular basis.
