Mushroommonday: An example of Boletus Satanas?
I took the photo last weeks when I went to Fontia, from Massa-Carrara (Tuscany, Italy). While I was biking I saw some mushrooms on the field and I stopped to immortalized them. If I don't wrong, this is a Boletus Satanas example.
I post-produced the pic with some adjustment levels to obtain the creation above.

well, it depends! there exist 2 Boletus, which look absolutely the same. Stanas is inedible, but theres another named .... forget the name.

ah. here we go: it is Neoboletus erythropus...
which is edible. the difference: if you cut the good one, the cut will turn intense blue. inedible satanic mushroom will not turn blue. easy-peasy!

Usually in our zones the satanas cap it's a lighter color. The erythropus cap it's darker instead.
