Mexican Murals - Return of the (pinche) Chinche
Return?
That thing has likely never gone anywhere... In fact, it even paid a visit to our place, or more precisely to that of our neighbor, as I mentioned in this post about local critters.
Whose Return Anyway?
So why am I mentioning the re-occurring aspect of this kissing bug? And why in a post about murals? Well, two years ago, when I was last time in Mazunte, I saw this super cool mural that I had to write a post about. Packed into a cartoonish piece of art is an important message regarding the Chagas disease transmitted by this insect, which can make your heart grow in size till it explodes, causing a miserable kind of death.
Since then the mural has disappeared, as it is so often the case, and nobody would not even remember it, had I not saved it into the blockchain for all times to come! However, the chinche bug is still around, as is the disease, and people need to be aware of it. So the local muralists are kept busy creating new images to raise awareness of this inconvenience.
I'm not sure if this mural was painted by the same artist as the previous one. The color code certainly is the same red-black-white combo, and the heart looks quite expressive. The chinche, however, looks a lot prettier, wearing sexy brassieres. HOT!
This time I want to mention Paola Pretelli, the painter behind this mural, which can be found in the neighboring beach town of Zipolite. That village, by the way, is brim full with the most awesome murals, so I may actually venture over there just to collect some cool pics.

Thanx for the reminder. I took care of my voting duties two days ago. But now that my favorite witnesses are set, what am I going to do when something like this happens again?
Your work always surprises me, you do a good job with design in publications and writing. The mural is very expressive, I really like the big heart, a hug.
Thanks for the comment. Still not sure about the best place to post it. Team-Mexico is always an option, since they're all murals I found in Mexico, but then I saw this street-art community. Anyway, I may try posting with you guys next time.
Chinches!!!! Not too friendly!
Hahaha, oh they don't hurt you, they just try your taste occasionally... and yes, some of them are sick, causing your heart to explode (or maybe not), but only in a decade or two. Still, I try to stay away from them.
Beautiful mural about this awful disease with this heart representing the heart problems that can be caused.

Oh, I just realized I've been following you guys all this time. Nice! And thanks for the manual curation. There's more where this mural came from, as here in Mexico you're literally surrounded by them.
Congratulations @stortebeker! You received a personal award!
