Five great short films

avatar

I always liked short films, recently I started watching the Omeleto channel on YouTube. Omeleto is a channel that promotes professionally quality short films, frequently with well-known actors.

One thing I really love about short films is they tend to be far more unpredictable than Hollywood movies which tend to follow the same old scripts time and time again.

Here's five I really liked

The Gunslinger

Without a doubt, the most popular and well known short film on Omeleto and one of my favorites. Narrated by Nick Offerman this film expertly crafts and plays out the ultimate standoff.

Stealing Silver

Starting Maisie Williams from Game of Thrones, this short film is an emotional discovery of a mysterious old man while going through a rough time in her life.

Lazy Boy

A man purchases a recliner at a yard sale that turns out to be a one-minute time machine.

Death In Bloom

A strange film where a salesman who sells custom death experiences negotiates death with a picky customer.

1500 Words

A man diagnosed by his doctor with only 1,500 words left until death. He is forced to live the rest of his days with a limited vocabulary.

Thanks for sharing the selection. Shorties are quite creative, usually. I know the first one. And a similar one with a narrator messing up with people.

Time to check out the rest of them.

Yes brother , you are very true. I have in mind to watch Stealing Silver but the time frame I had was so tight. I will still create time to watch it with my family. Thanks again. @themarkymark

Oh, man! I’m SO glad you posted this, @themarkymark! I predominately use YouTube for background documentaries while I edit but clicked on one of these. I love little anthologies, too. I began the one where the guy sees everyone around him as a monster but had to pack up and leave the coffee shop in a rush. They seem very Twilight Zone-esk! I’ll give them a shot tomorrow while I’m working.

Check out Ballad of Buster Scruggs on Netflix if you like anthologies.

Also one of my favorites! Poor @vermillionfox has to deal with me quoting it all the time. “...GOODNIGHT, MISTER POCKET!”.💰

I watched Stealing Silver before leaving this comment. Thank you for this article. I have not come across Omeleto in my five years of watching YouTube. I so enjoyed it very much!

These popped up in my YouTube feed lately, they are pretty damn good. I really liked the gunslinger and the 1500 word one. Also there is another time machine one which is quite hilarious, where one of the side effects is growing a moustache :0D

These are great! Thanks for posting. Helped me fill in the last couple hours of the evening that I would have otherwise filled eating cheese and crackers while staring at the wall.
