The stories that combine an entertaining drama with a somewhat unexpected but satisfying ending for the protagonists are one of the types of films I like the most because they allow me to see the different faces that emotions can generate in people. Well, that's something that defines Gold very much, a film that has a fantastically constructed plot around an intense and exciting rhythm that ends with an unexpected but very satisfying twist where we see some memorable scenes.

Gold is a very dynamic and highly entertaining film that takes us on a typical tour that leads to greatness an even more atypical man, a dreamer man who constantly marks his rhythm of life by risky bets and impulsive decisions, but in general a man who never gave up and in a certain way climbed the peak of success.

The plot of this film lets us explore through a somewhat frenetic pace as a gold enthusiast and a geologist "expert" in locating gold deposits meet again in Indonesia to undertake an unbridled search for a legendary deposit that will quickly lead them to become successful men and of course millionaires. As is to be expected in these typical success stories, both men find the goldfield after spending moments when one of them almost died from an infection, a discovery that places them at the top of the mining industry after they realize that the deposit they have found represents one of the largest in the world. From that discovery, the life of these men changes because they see how they are savagely approached by investment groups that are willing to invest and take a slice of the incredible discovery that these two men have made.

After the discovery and the furor of the investors the story develops in an expected and typical way, we see how these two men build a gigantic mining empire, we see how they face difficult situations that put them in a position to lose everything, in the end, a constant race of typical moments that give a lot of intensity to the plot but also make it fall a little into the cliché, but well I do not complain because they are entertaining situations and that is what is important. However, do you remember that I told you that there is an unexpected but beautiful turn here? -SPOILER- Well, it turns out that this whole big gold mine thing was just an illusion, an invention meticulously created by the geologist to deceive everyone and gradually get a slice of the participation and frenetic excitement of everyone who wanted to get into the business.

That twist gives something fantastic to the plot because we see how everything that these two men had built with effort, dedication, and help collapsed in a second, especially because the scandal that all the deception caused in the wealthiest population of the United States was tremendous. Those scenes where we see the frustration of those who had laid down their lives for the mining company are great because we see that obvious contrast between the good and bad moments of life. It is simply wonderful to see how so many people were deceived by a man who used the blindness generated by money to take advantage and run away with hundreds of millions of dollars while everyone was stubborn and distracted using a bandage made of gold.

The highlights of this film are the performances because through interpretations like Matthew McConaughey's we see how the dreams and hopes of a man were broken when he found out that the greatest achievement of his life had been a simple illusion, an illusion that destroyed him but in the end left him with a great taste in his mouth. McConaughey totally transforms himself into a simple man, adopting simple but profound gestures that make his character change completely, giving us some of the most emotional scenes of the film.

This is undoubtedly a super entertaining film that shows us how the most powerful people in a country were deceived by the excitement that caused them to want to be part of something great, an excitement that made them think irrationally and act frenetically so as not to be excluded. The whole movie manages to create memorable scenes with an intense rhythm that never stops, this is a movie where we constantly see entertaining scenes, yes, the initial plot is super predictable but the film becomes something deep and more emotional in the end leaving aside all the superficial side and focusing more on the main characters.
