Lessons to Learn from the Bees

Every great accomplishment in life comes with some kind of discipline, dedication, commitment and efforts. Nothing happens instantly or just by itself without these. Yes life will keep happening at random, but then great accomplishments need perseverance, they don't happen just randomly or by luck. When great things are achieved on the outside people say that the person has a lot of good luck, but do you know the whole story of that achievement? Most of the time No. Luck is one very small factor, but more important is determination and commitment.

Today I am using the story of Bees of how we can take some learnings from them to bring in success into our own lives.
There are a set of rules that the Bees follow, and if we replicate those same rules into our lives, we will see some wonderful results in our life. Bees can be our teacher in many ways. They have some stringent work discipline, which on the outside does not show, but the end result they produce is so marvelous.

Let me share some lessons today that we can learn and imbibe into our own lives to achieve success.

-Goal Clarity- We all know that Bees produce honey and they are also working towards the same thing. They are aware that their final goal is to produce honey and all of them put efforts in that direction. There is a step by step process, the male bee; who is also called the drone, mates with the female bee; who is called the queen, the queen bee then lays the eggs and all the worker bees then handle their responsibility. They all have their roles defined well to achieve their goals.
Likewise in our lives if we have clear goals set with clarity in the actions, it will be much easier to achieve the goal and the desired end result. But if we do not set our goals right or that goal post keeps shifting every day then it is not a goal, it is just some lose activity that can be done at our convenience.

-Cooperation and not Competition- If we look at the beehive, we will see how each bee works in coordination with the others. They work in full spirit of cooperation and there is absolutely no competition in them to bring down another bee and scale up. They co exist, they know that they cannot produce honey just by themselves. They have to work together to produce honey. If we just look at the beehive we will understand how well they are synchronized.
Likewise in our lives also if we work more in cooperation with everyone involved in the project, we will bring better results. But if we do not work in the right spirit and keep thinking about how to outrun others then we ourselves will not be able to deliver the best results for our work, because our focus will be more on others then self. Competition for humans is healthy, competition with an intention of producing best results by self is healthy, but not with the intention to outrun.

- Commitment and Action-Every single Bee works hard on building up the honey comb, there are no short cuts or laziness attitude, with 100% commitment they work on achieving their end result. And the result we clearly see, how they produce honey.
Likewise in our lives if we want to achieve something, the most important thing first is our commitment to that goal, only 100% commitment will bring 100% success. With commitment follows action, without action nothing happens.

There are many other lessons also that they teach us like Loyalty and Punctuality. Bees can be used as good metaphors in our lives. As I always say Nature is our best teacher, if we understand our nature well, we will not need to read any book, all the knowledge is out there, we just need to understand and imbibe.
