"In the Nick of Time"

If I could write a poem, a line or two of verse,
That would lift the veils from a thousand eyes,
Closed hearts springing
Open like a purse.

This would be a wondrous thing,
And not for my extolling;
But for humanity and its leveling,
Seeing that we are one,
with all this is favoring.

To step outside our world, out of the conflict,
woe and striving.
To see that our world is filled with greed.
Not enough regard for those in need

Sharing our love and our caring…
Equality, Altruism, Generosity;
Might save us from ourselves;
Keeping our world thriving.
