Monochrome Monday goes Colorful

avatar

beach 2.jpg

Oh, to wear the monochrome on the beach, do you think it takes away from the beauty of the vision? The colors as they roll in, off the distant horizon?

The emotional association of coloring ones worlds perchance? In so many ways, it adds to the peace of the moment, don't you think? I breathe. Then breathe again. Oh, yes. I can feel its calm.

20180529_080207 2.jpg

My favorite tree. I know I take you by here almost every day when I am walking
This post is dedicated to #MonochromeMonday with @Old-Guy-Photos. Time to put them up!

My fascination with flowers is probably the worst kept secret. Well, of course, after my favorite tree. Being the first, mayhap. There is just something about them, their voices heard, like a soft whisper in my head. Oh, my lovely blooms, how do I love thee? Am I really able to count the ways?

image.png

Wrap your love up with a big red bow, hug me 'til the end of time.

Will you be mine?
Will you be mine?

image.png

Who could deny that fate brought you together 'til the end of time? Your beauty displayed as you unfurl your bud, for all to see, for all to admire. As it should be. Always and forever.

There can be no such thing as redundancy when speaking about beauty. How can there ever be too much? Let's make this picture all about #MondayRed #ColorChallenge by @Kalemandra. Because for all practical purposes, she colors my world. Every. Single. Day.

image.png

The softest of whispers. The gentle rain. The sudden stillness of my heart. The sweetest dreams come from days like this, as I am tenderly caressed by life.

Just like that, these words are done. Happy #MonochromeMonday to all as we start into another beautiful week! Keep on Steemin!

Thank you for visiting my post 💖 Because of you, I come back to post again and again, I am encouraged by you, for the time you take to visit, comment or even upvote. For all of these reasons, I am eternally grateful. Don't ever forget what a wonderful world we live in, people. Let's hold hands around the globe and make this earth really spin. Some days, it is not as easy to see, how wonderful it really is. Kindness counts. Wherever you go, whatever you do.

I always post this poem down at the bottom of my posts. It is one that has become so near and dear to my heart. I only post the most famous part of it, but, wanted to post it in its entirety today.

they set my aunts house on fire
i cried the way women on tv do
folding at the middle
like a five pound note.
i called the boy who use to love me
tried to ‘okay’ my voice
i said hello
he said warsan, what’s wrong, what’s happened?

i’ve been praying,
and these are what my prayers look like;
dear god
i come from two countries
one is thirsty
the other is on fire
both need water.

later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered,
"where does it hurt?"
it answered,

"everywhere"
"everywhere"
"everywhere"

You always find the best pics for MM. I am so happy to see you jump in!! As much as I love color and I really do, I think sometimes mono allows my brain to slow down and absorb the nuances of the scene. I contrasty ones like yours always work nicely!

Oh, if only, you know? I have so much trouble finding the right type of phot that will work. I know you love color, but, someone had to take up the mono, right???

Thanks! I love that cat picture too. I spent my first 5 SBD to have this custom made by another Steemian. No, it is not my cat. You can see my cat here. The small, dark cat on the left is mine. His name is Pachino. The other cat, the photogenic one is a cat that I co-parent with my next door neighbor. His name is Ollie. Do you have a cat? I am guessing you do since you are the one who started Caturday. I used that tag and posted every Saturday, I mean every Caturday, for a long time. : )

You know how much I always loved your flowers! Nevertheless, the monochrome beach is so beautiful and calming, with black silhouettes and sparkling water. Stunning shot! No to forget your new selfie, wow! Such a lovely look with that golden hair. You even look little bit shy 😍

@dswigle,

Oh, to wear the monochrome on the beach, do you think it takes away from the beauty of the vision? The colors as they roll in, off the distant horizon?

There's something about Black & White that reduces pictures to their "essence." As a result, the picture becomes philosophical, causing one to ponder some deeper meaning. In this way, it is much like poetry. Stripped of the verbosity of prose, one is left to ponder the core of meaning.

That said, color provides the magic of life, an explosion of emotion.

Both ways of seeing the same thing is worthy in its own right. Juxtaposition often provides a depth of insight that would otherwise be absent.

My fascination with flowers is probably the worst kept secret.

You are a woman prone to understatement. :-)

Lovely pictures, all.

Oh, Quill...

You always make a person feel so good. Well, some may not know they shouldn't feel good, but, you write enough that they wonder if perhaps they missed the attaboy somewhere in between. Me? I just choose to ponder a moment or three.

You are a woman prone to understatement. :-)

Haha! I knew it. You just couldn't leave it alone...

Just so you know, I missed your sometimes snarky, twisting of the words writing while you were away. Nobody does it better. You are not allowed to leave again, taking all your Quillisms with you.

Thanks for stopping by, When I stop feeling intimidated, I will go over to your site. But, that means I need to leave a comment. Hmmm. And put thought into it, hoping it won't be pointed at and pulled apart... Oi!! See what you do to me???

You know I'm kidding! I ain't afraid of you! Hell no!!!

Have a great day, my friend!

@dswigle,

Denise, it's NEVER "snarky" when it's with my friends.

Then, it's ALWAYS good-natured teasing. Look at the way I pretend to ride the Ol' Guy ... but imagine if someone actually went after him ... I'd eviscerate them. And do you imagine I'm only speaking figuratively?

Somehow, as we get older, we convince ourselves that we ought to grow up ... and stop playing. If there's anything in life I'm 100% certain about, it's that that is a bad idea. Once we lose the ability to laugh at ourselves, it's all over but the crying. A lot of my cheekiness is about breaking the ice because people put up barriers they can no longer take down. If you can't connect, you can't commiserate.

Mind you, I'm cognizant of the fact that not everyone is equally persuaded by the peculiarities of my particular charms. And hence, the "Quill Toast or Roast Post" ... an attempt to provide people an opportunity to give me a much-deserved comeuppance.

https://steemit.com/powerhousecreatives/@quillfire/the-quillfire-roast-or-toast-celebrating-quill-s-steemit-birthday-massive-sbi-prizes-com-47

But read the comments. What I ended up with were roasty-toasts or toasty-roasts. No one would take a head shot no matter how badly I provoked them. I'm pretty sure it's because everyone intuitively understands that my "teasing" is prima facie evidence that I like them. After all, if it's obvious that someone is going to great lengths to become the center of your attention, how can that be construed negatively?

Anyway, rest assured that if I ever thought I had grounds for snarkiness, I would tell you in private via DM, not in public via the comments section. I'm old fashioned that way.

Now ... get cracking on that pot roast poem!

Dear Quill... @quillfire

I mean, surely you knew that I was packing an unloaded six-shooter? If I really thought that you were snarky, would I even take a moment of my at the moment, boring precious time to respond?? What I said and meant are two different things, I am a woman after all. I took it for granted you would know. :)

Oh, please never grow up or get too serious. Half the fun of you is knowing that it is banter and play. Who could resist? Hehe! I sent the old guy a text telling him about the contest. Oh, you know he is excited about you serving him pot roast. I believe that is what he got out of it.

Well, they are not paying me to play on steemit, so my time is not always my own.

Le sigh.

How do you like that pot roast again?

With pleasure! Now it is hard to say, it accumulates in the steem-engine. It remains to be seen if it will maintain its value ... In order to send to others (you can make ten comments per day to send 60 TRDO and receive 40 TRDO) you must have at least 1000 TRDO staked. It now costs about 5 Steem. I don't know if it is worth the investment but not being a large amount ... it can be fun.
