The Birds & The Bees & The Private Keys

Hey Jessrentals

When I got into cryptocurrency I was young, handsome, bright-eyed eyed and enthusiastic, I'm still enthusiastic but my approach to things have changed as I became battled hardened over time. I was so excited by the space and my genius in making money during the 2017 bull run I was preaching the good news to anyone who would listen.

I bored people to death at family functions and parties and rambled on at work meetings and anyone who would give me the opportunity to do so thinking I was changing lives. Thankfully most of them ignored me and went about their lives and I didn't ruin anyone's finances in the process.

I think this a mistake we all make and come off rather arrogant or like we're part of some crazy cult. People in the space are passionate and have their own opinions but we forget we found this place by means of our own curiosity and that's what got us excited in the first place, no one pitched it to us, we pitched it to ourselves.

Not everyone needs cryptocurrency

If you're in a developed nation or well off in a developing nation the truth is you don't need cryptocurrency you can earn your keep, access banking and purchase anything you want with complete freedom. If you want to use it as a hedge or a speculative investment or a hobby, by all means, that's your choice, you don't ever have to serious about it.

I think we who are serious about it forget that fact, and push people out of the space before they can find their feet and how committed to crypto they want to be.

If you're in a tyrannical state, if your national currency has hyperinflation, if your banking system cuts you off, if remittance costs are far too high to send money home, then crypto makes a great use case in its current mold. You can still get around with cash but if you want to try crypto, by all means, give it a go. Reach out to someone who knows more about it, and let them coach you through the process.

Don't turn everything into a Ted Talk

Free market means free to choose

If we want to be the embodiment of the free market as we claim to be in blockchain and the decentralized space we need to remember people should be free to choose. They can choose if they want to be in the space and which coins they want to buy, earn, hold and use and bare the cost of their decisions.

This is how the free market works and yes we can care about others and advise them on their choices but they still should be allowed to make their own choice. Let the process to becoming a Bitcoiner or any corner be a natural process of discovery and you'll find that people will ask the right questions, do the right things and stick around a lot longer.

Learning from no coiners

In the crypto space, we're often arrogant little shits that think we've found a way to solve the world's problems and we form echo chambers in the space and forget to see things from the majority of the world's point of view.

No coiners are able to bring in fresh eyes and other expertise and can challenge our beliefs, call us out on our bullshit and make sure, we're keeping to our ideals we claim to hold so dear.

Have your say

What do you good people of HIVE think? Have you met or known a millionaire that has lost it all?

If you want to use it as a hedge or a speculative investment or a hobby

I fall into this category... For now at least. Still planning on withdrawing what I spent on STEEM and then the rest will be my plaything, like you are.

You may also want to check your footer and maybe remove the "good people of xyz", lest we upset those who don't fall into the same category as the casual user/hobbyist

Well Justin is holding 17 cents for you to get out hopefully it’s enough to get you you to recover! I do see it all as a learning experience that I’m paying for, just like I did uni just that this is a heck of a a lot cheaper than uni

Thanks for the tip lol I’m lazy with my copy and pasting

Yea fingers crossed he will keep it at that amount! Massive learning experience and at least you have a chance to earn at least something here. Uni is one expensive bitch! I am grateful I joined the year before they 3x the tuition fees, then they 3x AGAIN a couple of years later. Mine was about £1,200 per year, now it's between £9,000-£12,000 per year... you could get a shit load of crypto for that money haha!

I noticed the same with my footers from my Wordpress site as there was mention of Steem and I didn't realise steempress now posts on Hive so had to edit that quickly before I'd get flagged to oblivion lol

Have you met or known a millionaire that has lost it all?

Not personally. I've only heard about such stories on the press.

I don't think Bitcoin is going to deliver on its promise anytime soon. Mostly, because the whole Crypto space has been invaded by greedy bastards who love fiat money and the government more than they care about the technology itself.

I think "anytime soon" has different meaning for different ppl. For some it may be <10 weeks. For me it is ~10 years. Crypto is just 10 yr young

It shouldn’t have to deliver on any promises it’s still figuring out so many issues like scale and onboarding! We still have things in the works like lightening network and wallets that support it, atomic swaps and interoperability of chains I think once those are in it will be a big leap forward and we can reduce our dependency on stop gap solutions like exchanges!

It’s still far off being something the world wants to use but if even we the 1% use it can bring value and happy to exchange our goods and services for it then it’s a win in my book

I found this post because the title is saying "private keys".
First made a CTRL-F for "private", then for "key"
Nothing.

Finally , disappointed, not even bothered to read it fully.
Clickbyte?

Or maybe I'm to much crypto addicted... :)

In the crypto space, we're often arrogant little shits

Who do you think you're talking to? You have any idea how much smartcash I have?
I'm so important and respected here my reputation is almost 70. I could crush 100 of you before breakfast.

Arrogant little shits..

I oughta downvote you so hard.

Lol, that's how it goes as soon as you own a cryptocurrency you're automatically handed the private and public keys to being a financial know it all.

And how have you enjoyed it thus far? Have you also invested or just earning? Would you say you’ve changed the way you see the space since you first got in?
