Solo's Weekly Picks: Birds

avatar

This week I look at posts of birds that others have shared on Hive. Living in Georgia we have quite the diversity in the bird population. And always finding new birds I have not seen before. Checking out others posts on their local birds I realize I have not seen but a fraction of the kinds of birds out there. Glad to be a part of Hive which brings global content together in one place. Giving me the opportunity to see others wildlife around them, many I have never seen before.

Here are five minnows I curated that are posting about birds. Being it sea birds, pet birds, turkeys and wild birds.

YARD BIRDS by @manorvillemike

https://peakd.com/hive-106444/@manorvillemike/yard-birds

@manorvillemike shares with us some birds spotted by their house. A woodpecker is spotted along with a turkey. And a hummingbird resting on a nectar feeder near by. Funny how the turkeys show up when its not hunting season.. haha its like they know or something. We have those kind of birds where I live, great to see them up north as well.

Philippine birds #071920 by @digitalis

https://peakd.com/hive-106444/@digitalis/philippine-birds-071920

@digitalis shares with us some photos of philippine using their Nikon D7100 along with a VR 150-600mm lens. Many birds were spotted such as the Philippine pied fantail, White-breasted Wood-swallow, Yellow-vented Bulbul - Pycnonotus goiaver, and a Yellow Wagtail - Motacilla flava. I do not think we have any of those kind of birds where I live. So great seeing others local wildlife.

Chloris chloris by @nettle1984

https://peakd.com/hive-106444/@nettle1984/chloris-chloris

@nettle1984 shares with us some photos of green colored sparrow. Its known as Chloris chloris, two of them were spotted thinking they are a couple. Some pictures were taken though video was attempted but did not come out all that well. What is noticed as well is these birds sing wonderfully.

I want to be released by @hiramoni

https://peakd.com/hive-106444/@hiramoni/i-want-to-be-released

@hiramoni tells us about how a trip to a local pet store to buy birds did not turn out as planned. Seeing the birds trapped in the cage looked like a prison to them. Causing the birds to squirm around and not look happy. If they had it their way they would buy them all and set them free.

My feathered friend and his furious frenzy of primping and preening before the rest of the paparazzi arrived by @chocolatescorpi

https://peakd.com/hive-106444/@chocolatescorpi/my-feathered-friend-and-his-furious-frenzy-of-primping-and-preening-before-the-rest-of-the-paparazzi-arrived

@chocolatescorpi shows off a sea bird preeening itself so his feather will dry in the sun. Fresh from exploring the freezing water, the bird now is out in the sun drying off. @chocolatescorpi thinks the bird is trying to show off the other birds as well, so maybe its not just all about drying off.

Thats my curation of five minnows on the Hive Blockchain for the week. Stay tuned next week to see the next five of Solo's picks.

Thanks so much for including my bird post... Photographing birds are a challenge... and when you finally get something worthy of sharing it's a double thrill to be recognized... Thanks again all.... 🦅😀

Sure is hard. That's why I do do few bird posts. Great job with your captures.

Ah glad, happy to be working with diyhub and MSP so I can share the love.

Thanks so much for the mention, but really I can't take the credit- only the star of the show can and he's busy flapping his glorious wings signing autographs somewhere....lol...😂

Those are some very beautiful birds, the world still has plenty of them @solominer but the one I want to see in person was the bird that can mimic almost all sounds from other sounds of birds to a chainsaw The "Lyrebird". I do not know if you could call that a talent or a gift from God but it is just magical.

Thanks alot, ah we got a simular bird called a "mocking bird" it's pretty boring looking. It can mimic hawk calls and has fooled me many times. That lyrebird looks way cooler.
