My Steem Monthly Report: 21th month on Steem!

avatar

Yep! It's that time of the month again! Time for my somewhat obligatory monthly report which is also a good time to look back to what I have done during the past month while showing off some of my so-called "little" progress.

Well this might probably be the last time where my Steem Power increase for a month is over 100. T_T

For the month of August, my Steem Power increase (from author and curation rewards) is 119! Last year, almost all my author and curation rewards were being powered up since I really believe that Steem will succeed but looking at it this year, I'm honestly not keeping my expectations up anymore. XD

If HardFork20 killed the majority of newbies (or accounts with little-to-no SP) for the sake of getting rid of spam, I personally think that HardFork 21 will sooner or later kill contents. Most of those who support the 50/50 author/curator split claims that the change will likely encourage people to curate more blog posts but for some reason I just can't help doubting those with decent-to-huge stakes (the orcas/whales) to actually read and curate strangers blog posts especially with accounts with low reputations. XD

I have already read some "Goodbye Steem" blog posts from people I follow here and I do get what they are feeling. I have been on Steem for 21 months now and for the first time in the 19 months of consistent blogging and posting without missing even a single day (well except for that day where HF20 was released since Steem was down for over a day), I have never feel unmotivated and lazy since HF21 was released. XD

I still don't have any plans of leaving Steem though nor initiate a power-down but really considering putting all my attention to SteemMonsters as it is the only thing left that makes Steem interesting for me.

  • 태그 작성 가이드라인 준수는 콘텐츠 관리와 글에 대한 접근성을 높이기 위해 반드시 필요한 절차입니다. ( It is an essential step to adhere tags guideline, manage content and make access better to your postings.)

  • 스팀코인판에서 활용 가능한 태그는 크게 [보상태그 / 언어태그/ 주제태그]로 구분할 수 있습니다. 보상태그와 언어태그는 필수입니다.(Tags that can be largely grouped into [Main Community / Language / Topic] in community. The language and topic tags are required.)

(예) 한국어로 작성한 자유 주제 포스팅((E.g) Posting for free topic in English)

  • 태그 작성 가이드라인을 준수하는 것이 태그 사용을 규제하는 정책보다 스팀코인판의 가치를 높이는 길이라고 생각합니다.(We believe that adhering tags guideline is a way to increase the value of SteemCoinpan community than that of forcing tags limitations.)

I agree that Steemmonsters is pretty much the only thing that gets it right.

The problem with Steem is that the incentives are totally messed up and it forces everyone that wants to do well on the platform in a direction they probably don't want to go in. There is a huge pressure to bring out at least 1 post a day and you see a trend of people putting less and less effort into it because you can get more rewards bending your way to what's easy to produce (Spam Actifit reports / Steemmonsters Reward Card posts / ...) and gets tribe token upvotes by abusing tags like you are doing now with Sportstalk. I don't blame you for it, but it does make it impossible to keep you on my auto-upvote list for now moving you into manual curation as I have quite some SPORTS staked.

I hope the platform finds a way to restore the balance as it's just ridiculous right now what's going on with most content.

No problem and sorry about the addition of sportstalk tag. :)

I started using Busy.org back (from ESteem) again this week and I noticed that staging.busy.org do not limit tags there so I just copy/pastied someone's tags (since he also takes advantage of those tokens) and I forgot to remove sportstalk (I did remove 'spt' and 'steemace' though lol).

And yeah, I hope that this change will not affect much SteemMonsters and their DEC token. If I am not mistaken a lot of people love hodling DEC tokens before because they can use it to exchange for upvote, now with the 50/50 split I'm afraid many would not use that feature anymore and thus might affect the value of DEC.

I do believe the steemmonsters upvotes have been changed so they are good for 50/50, it's all quite complicated though. I will be taking some time next week to properly adjust to all the changes that have taken place. I have some delegations running to daily group upvote account (jumbot, steemraiser) but I doubt that they will be able to have a solution for HF21. I'll make sure @upvoteshares gives at least a 10x self-upvote return and probably will add some kind of dividend payout each time a new level is reached as a way to balance the 50/50. I've set the upvotes at 4 minutes now but from what I understand it just burns part of the curation instead of giving it to the author as it used to be the case.

Small accounts will get hit hard by the HF, it's pretty much impossible to upvote posts that earn <1$ and don't bump it up using bots to 4$+ as you lose out on so much curation upvoting those.

I'm not sure where this will all end, I just hate the fact that the system pushed users to more shady behavior. It used to be about making posts about what you generally love and finding like-minded people in the process to just doing what's most profitable. I hope the platform manages to overcome this somehow but I don't see it happening anytime soon. I hope you stick to it!
