Some Maynia for your Morning!

Today, in the world of the future, it is Friday morning and I need to write as much as possible before the weekend hits. At the moment most of my writing is created in the very tiny time-frame of between 10am and 2:30pm each week-day before my son comes home from school 😬 and there is absolutely no chance I'll get anything done over the next two days.

Might be able to try out some of the new Terraria update, at least! 😄

In my last babble post I was working on an impossible chapter where everyone was supposed to be happy for a change, and showed a list of the unwritten chapters I need to finish.

  • The little girl at the Sundered Isles needs to have her moment.
  • A spirit will be taken advantage of which leads the way into the rest of the series and is really the whole point of the series.
  • Someone is betrayed.
  • The final moment, which I really don't know how to lead in to yet. I know what I want Lyria to do, I don't know how the heck to get her there.
  • The chapter my heart breaks.
  • The Final Chapter.
  • A tiny epilogue.

I finished the "happy" chapter! It still needs a teeny bit of polishing but I'm satisfied with it in regards to it fitting the narrative and being able to move on to get the rest of everything over and done with.

Yesterday I started and completed the first unwritten chapter -- The little girl at the Sundered Isles needs to have her moment -- It's mostly dialogue but it brings together a lot of things and gives more depth to the characters. My partner read it last night and he loved it! Said that it was surprising it wasn't one of my constantly-rewritten chapters because it seemed so polished.

Guess I'm getting the hang of the polishing-while-writing thing! Haha. Will still go back to it later, but once again I can now move on.

After completing the Child at the Isles chapter, I started work on the next one and threw 600 odd words at it before I went to bed last night -- A spirit will be taken advantage of which leads the way into the rest of the series and is really the whole point of the series -- and that is my aim for today to complete.

It's going to be a pretty... salacious chapter. The type of chapter that transforms a simple dark fantasy into a Simple Dark Fantasy With That One Erotic Scene.

With the amount of suggestiveness already in the story though it probably won't be toooooo out of place. Um. Definitely won't be sharing excerpts here of that! Haha.

This upcoming salacious chapter will lead the way to -- Someone is betrayed -- and... it's all coming together!

I'm so happy that it's all coming together.

I won't be so happy in a few days when my heart is being crushed by the Heartbreaking Chapter. But at the moment, I'm fairly chuffed as to how this is all coming along! 😁

Here's an excerpt from yesterday's Child at the Isle writings:

“No!”

Xelcia threw herself back, disconnecting herself from Alysse’s mind, and stumbled inelegantly against one of the library shelves. A gasp rose up as the entire group of white-robes whipped around to face her and a flash of panic crossed Brell’s face as he hurried to her side.

“High Magister?”

“I’m fine.” She shot a piercing glare at the man before he could touch her. Ignoring his outstretched hand, she climbed to her feet then swept a trembling hand through her tousled curls. “It appears our young clairvoyant has other interesting abilities.”

I’m sorry, milady magister, Alysse lowered her head and returned to the vials.

“It’s okay, child. Just… seek permission next time.”

“High Magister, are you—”

“I’m fine, Brell,” she snapped. “Return to the newbloods. They need you more than I.”

Rubbing at her suddenly aching temples, she closed her eyes for several long moments before daring to open them again. Brell returned to his desk, casting an injured look over his shoulder, and she inwardly winced. Ever since the night Alysse had stumbled from the nightmare lands and into her bedchamber, the night her guard had lowered and she had grudgingly accepted this strange maternal role, Brell always seemed to be nearby whenever things went astray, forever watching from the corner of his eye; it was impossible to bear.

“M-milady?”

The hesitant tone buried within Alysse’s voice caught her attention. Her hands were clasped together, so tight that her knuckles were white, and she looked entirely awkward as she fidgeted from one foot to the other. Xelcia raised an eyebrow and waited.

The girl cleared her throat then blurted out, “Can we go to Astana?”

“By the Three!” Xelcia’s hand flew to her mouth at that most outrageous question. Brell spun around to face her again, his shrewd eyes watching carefully, and she rapidly shook her head. “Alysse, Lord Magister Brell went over this in orientation. Lord Andru does not wish our kind upon the land, let alone inside his glorious city. That is his domain and this is ours.”

Alysse shrugged her tiny shoulders and placed a hand on her hip.

“Not for much longer. We should probably tell him while we’re there.”

Can I finish this damned thing before the end of May/Maynia? 😉 Wish me luck!
(Not that I'm stopping if I don't finish then. I'll take mid-June too! This will be done.)

HAPPY MAYNIA! 🍻

I just finished this salacious chapter I was rambling about! My partner is reading it right now. I'm waiting eagerly for his opinion before I move on to the nexxxttttt chapter. He's a slow reader! I'm dying over here. 😆
