Buzzi Focusrite Scarlett Solo
This is one of the equipment I use when recording our weekly recording assignment.
What I like most about it is its plug-and-play capability when I connect it to my MacBookAir.
I use it together with my Shure PG48 dynamic mic. They're a good combination for amateur vocalists like me.
The setup I use when recording a vocal recording are:
- Focusrite Scarlett Solo (this product)
- Shure PG48
- Sennheiser HD 202
- MacBook Air
- Mac OSX Garage Band
With these 5 items, I am able to record high quality voice recordings.
I record voice recording usually in the evening, after I eat dinner. I know it's best to record on an empty stomach because you'll have more space when tou breathe to sing, however, you also need energy to sing. :)
I usually record songs in the alternative rock genre. One of the songs I recorded is "I'll be".
My experience with using Scarlett Solo has not been all good. Since this is a first generation Scarlett Solo, it has a couple of hiccups when connecting it to my machine.
One of these hiccups is when I connect it to my PC, sometimes Garageband cannot detect it as an input source. Even after restarting my PC and Garageband, it still fails to detect it as my input mic. In such situations, I have no choice but to to use my PCs built-in mic. The audio quality of course is not as high as when I use Scarlett Solo.
So overall, my rating for this product is 4 out of 5 stars. I also got value for the price I paid for it which is around $50.
