Market Friday. Farmers Organic Market.

Farmers Organic Market.

This Farmers Organic Market is situated at the Burleigh Heads State School which is on the corner of the main Gold Coast Highway and West Burleigh Road,in Burleigh Heads, Queensland 4220.

I am submitting this post as my entry into the weekly Market Friday organised by @dswigle

One of the main things I enjoyed about this Farmers Market was the fabulous array of products available. There was such a positive and friendly vibe happening and it was clear to me that many shoppers were regular customers.

Products included super foods, beverages, honey, jams, relishes, gourmet foods, bakery, meat, fish, deli, global foods, dips, chutneys, sauces, fresh flowers, plants, arts & crafts, antiques, and collectibles. In other words, "Something for everybody."

I read a couple of reviews from Tripadvisor written about this Organic Farmers Market which backed up my first impressions.

Review #1. "The choice of certified, organic and chemical free fruit and veg is amazing."

Review #2. "We always come back. Love doing our weekly fruit and veg. There is awesome gozelme dumplings and gluten free donuts which you can't find in a store front (& trust me, we have tried.)"

Hmmmmm! I've never heard of 'gozelme dumplings' before. But, if you're like me, a positive review goes a long way to tempt me to try what has been recommended. I will look out for them next time I am in town.

Stallholders provided a wonderful selection of healthy, fresh, organic foods and produce. A large area contained a wide variety of bulk foods where customers were able to choose what they wanted and the amount they wanted. They measured out their required portions with the help of large scoops and transferred them into bags to be weighed at the counter.

Other items were conveniently packaged.

The fragrance from the Essential oils displayed at this stall was wonderful.

But the aroma of freshly brewed organic coffee nearby was even more wonderful.

You simply cannot have a market without the availability of good coffee. It would loose a lot of appeal, in my humble opinion.

The ingredients for the tortilla wrap advertised here sounded interesting. 'Homemade okara tortilla, crispy fried tofu, lettuce, cucumber, carrot, homemade sauce, tofu mayonnaise, plain or chilli.'

There is nothing nicer than Farm fresh fruit and vegetables. Most, if not all of the produce sold at this market would be locally grown and its always good to support our hard working farmers.

Yes. You do have to pay more for organic produce, but more and more we are learning about the harmful effects of the chemicals and sprays that that are too often used on commercial products.

Many health conditions can be associated with such chemicals and if we are not fortunate enough to be in a position to grow our own fruit and veggies and skin care products etc, then this is the price we have to pay.

The taste of organic food is much richer and flavoursome and when you have it regularly you really notice the difference when its not available.

How's this for going the extra mile? A GOurmet Food Recipe to copy and take home with you. I will never tire of eating zucchinis. They are so versatile and easy to prepare. I might have to try this recipe.

The location of these markets which are situated on a grassy flat area of the Burleigh Heads State School provide ample parking for visitors. There is a definite country feel at these markets due to the produce available but due to the close vicinity of the beach, one can enjoy cool sea breezes whilst shopping too.

That's a great combination if you ask me.

THANK YOU FOR VIEWING. HAVE A GREAT DAY.

Thank you JJ. These products are more expensive that what I like to pay but of course it becomes a case of: "We get what we pay for." Thankfully the organic markets close to where we live are a bit more reasonably priced. Thanks so much for visiting. 💐

I think some organic places milk the organic side of things and charge excessively know people will pay what they ask the local market is reasonable but I am glad I don’t live in NYC the prices there can be crazy

Thank you @farm-mom I agree with you. It is a great way to spend time over the weekend. You are one of the luck ones where you are able to grow your own delicious fruit and veggies. I hope you had a great weekend too. Thank you. 💐

It really is our goal, to grow enough of our own food to last until the next growing season. We know what goes in it and on it, no chemicals used on our farm, strictly organic, from seed to harvest. So good to hear from you @trudeehunter Enjoy your day!

Great outdoor markets Trudee. I could spend a lot of time browsing around and picking up those fresh veggies. The zucchini recipe sounds good.

Many thanks for dropping by @redheadpei We came across this market by accident but because we had some time up our sleeves and I had my camera in the car I just had to check it out, keeping Market Friday in mind. 😊

Lovely market stroll Trudeehunter in amongst the variety of stalls. I have to laugh at the recipe for the Zucchini comfort food, obviously dark chocolate is not not the list, haha.

No sign of chocolate in that recipe Angie. How can that be called 'comfort food' when there is no chocolate in sight? (lol) .....but there is nothing to stop you adding some dark, healthy chocolate to it.

Thanks so much for your welcome visit. 💐

Organic foods seem to be getting very popular around the world but i do think they should be a big more reasonable with the prices so everyone can enjoy them that's my opinion because i wouldn't pay that much for them over there anyway they are much much cheaper over here a quarter of the price compare to there.

I share your sentiments about the prices @hangin But I'm assuming they must sell the products at the higher prices because they would be left with them otherwise. Thankfully some organic venues are more competitive and affordable. You've just got to hunt them out. 😄

So nice to venture through this market with you Trudee, our farmers market has slowly disbanded over the years. Thinking back I don't know of any in our area now.

Fresh produce always tastes and lasts a lot longer to what you get in supermarkets today, thanks for this wonderful treat in photography at your market.

Hello Joan. Many thanks for dropping by. I'm sad to hear that the Farmers markets in your area have been disbanded over the years. Sad for the farmers as well as the customers.

I was fortunate in having a father in law who grew a wide range of vegetables and fruit in my early years of marriage. I was able to provide the best of produce for our family and always had a freezer full all year around, plus many jars of bottled fruit and relishes etc.

My Dad lived on a farm growing up, our garden growing up had an abundance of fruits and vegetables. Once a year helping prepare for bottling or making jam, good memories.

Where we live the monkeys climb in and enjoy most the fruits of your labour. Yes, it is sad that due to crime and not being well supported small farmer market in our village has been abandoned Trudee.

Sounds like you were blessed with healthy, organic food when you grew up too Joan. Such a blessing. It's a shame that the younger generation will have no idea how to bottle or preserve produce. I found it very rewarding.

@trudeehunter I loved seeing what kind of fruits and veggies were for sale in Australia. Our local farmers market has many great foods as well and the freshness is unbeatable unless you grow your own.

Oh my dear! Here I am 5 days late. To be fair, I voted and resteemed the post Friday or Satuday morning, and trying to keep up with new posts and keep posting I'm just a mess I guess. Anyway I am glad to see that you got to go to an organic market as I love those and just from the first picture it looks like it is going to be a huge one. I love the way they have their products all displayed nicely so you can pick through what you like. And TripAdvisor even likes them so you know we can't go wrong here.

The Gozleme dumpling is a Turkish flat bread that has different types of fillings. Me vegetables mashed potatoes or spinach and cheese. They use basic Joe and it can be done without using yeast the word is actually Turkish and it means compartments. I know that I've had them with mushroom feta and spinach. and you can even do them as a dinner or breakfast. I hope you get one next time because I think you will like it although I must say that they are very filling. Whole Foods in the United States has a wonderful selection of fresh organic foods and produce and I do like the fact that they have a lot of bulk foods that you serve yourself. And I cannot believe you had a essential.oil stall because who doesn't love that? I had somebody make me some special that only belongs to me and I was so thrilled to pieces to get it.

I'm with you on the coffee though my dear. Who can actually shop without an infusion of that great Brew? And I must ask you what is in a okara tortilla? And are you going to make me eat fried tofu on it with tofu mayonnaise?. Bring back that coffee! I used to balk at paying more for organic produce but the more you learn tell, the more you don't mind shelling out the extra. And even the organic I have to wonder how much residual is left in the soil from years ago. Hands down organic food just tastes better and I have to admit the zucchini is one of my favorite go-to foods because I added to everything. I put the zucchini through the puree and put it in my spaghetti sauce, in my chili, anything that is a casserole because it's extra added nutrients and nobody even knows it's there. It's a freebie.

I must say that you give a grand tour my dear and I absolutely have a fabulous time. Thank you so much for bringing this to Market Friday and I absolutely apologize for being so tardy. But you know I love you. Have a fabulous day!

#MarketFriday loves you!

Upped and steemed

I didn't even realize you were late, and you should never worry about getting behind or forgetting to reply or resteem because unfortunately, I cannot keep up myself at times, and I don't even have the responsibility of organizing a popular challenge like you do every week. 😊

Many thanks for 'filling me in' with regards to what constitutes a Gozleme Denise. You've convinced me to not by-pass the next one I come across. I wish I could do you the same favour by explaining what a okara tortilla is but alas, I remain ignorant. It was the first time I had come across it myself but I must do some research to satisfy our curiosity.

Thank you kindly for your wonderful support. It is much appreciated my friend. 🌷 🌻 🌷
