More mosaics in the 81st Street Subway by the Museum of Natural history.

In this previous post81 Street Museum of Natural History subway station mosaics I shared a few shots of the Mosaic art in the 81st Street Subway Station right by the Museum of Natural History, and I will continue on from that in this post with a few more shots there.
Starting with a turtle

There is so much to see, with some many tourist attractions, parks, museums, etc in New York City, if one has limited time for the visit its hard to know which sights to catch but the Museum of Natural History itself is well worth a visit, as is this subway stations with so many cool Mosaics on display.
Next up is a colorful snake

next up a mosaic of a coupeof Ostriches, pretty amazing birds when you think about it they can run up to 43 Miles per hour and can stand up to 9 feet tall

Now in the Museum they do have a display of New Zealand, but in the mosaics there was no Kiwi but we do go down Under to Australia with this mosaic of Kangaroos, another animal that can go quite fast, with speeds of up to 71 km/h (44 mph) can be attained over short distances, while it can sustain a speed of 40 km/h (25 mph) for nearly 2 km (1.2 mi)

Next up we have a leopard, which before this post i would have guessed would be quicker than the Ostrick and Kangaroo, but i was wrong their top speed is 36 miles per hour

And a photo of the Mosaic on the stairs to finish off the post, and since I mentioned the speed of a few of the animals to put their speeds into perspective Usain Bolt, who has clocked nearly 28 mph during his 100 Metre sprints

Those are some really nice mosaics. I really like the snake and the turtle. I imagine NY has so much to see that one would have a hard time deciding where to go first. I love that you share so much of the city as I will never get to see it otherwise.

everytime I see any mosaic, I am coming back to the Hadrian's Villa in Tivoli, Italy. Extremely advance 2000 years old mosaics in great shape. your photos are also great but definitely you must check those, as well as Cathedral in Monreale, Sicily, Italy. They were mosaic masters

Great photos. Would you have an idea who made these mosaics? Are they artists commissioned by the city? Thanks for sharing. More info download :)

Thanks I did try and find who did the mosaics but had no luck, but I think they were commissions by the Metropolitan Transport authority

I think I like the stairs one the best. That is pretty impressive how it looks almost like a cave wall. Cool stuff!
