Market Friday goes on Sale!

(Edited)

Today is #MarketFriday initiated by @dswigle (Denise, that's me!!) I hope you will join me as we share markets from across the globe. Different and varied as the countries themselves, I always look forward to seeing what you send me. Come. Sit down. Relax. Enjoy the shortest trip around the world you ever experienced, perhaps taking in a market from somewhere you have never been, seeing something you may have never seen.💓💓

I have decided that I will take one more pass at the store that holds my heart at this time of year, my beautiful Christmas store. In a slightly less glorious state. Every tree, ornament and Christmas bauble has been handled over and over and then again. But, in the blink of an eye, they shall put it all away again. Time has passed so quickly, has it not? I am still wandering around the Christmas Market, I just cannot help myself! Christmas trees, and candy canes with that peppermint twist. Decorations are everywhere, lights are shining bright and people are largely nice, if not downright huggable. Hark!!! I heard an angel sing! Do you hear what I hear??

The day after Christmas has notoriously been popular for shopping, especially for all things holiday. However, in the last few years, shopkeepers have gotten smarter! They cut the prices before Christmas, getting the edge on the after Christmas bargain hunters! If you are looking for ornaments, lights, outdoor displays -anything Christmas, now is the time to buy it at a very reduced price! It is usually 50% -75% off the regular price! Woo-hoo! What a deal, yes??!

image.png

Nutcrackers were in high demand, but, I passed on that one. I have got two that I bought when I lived in Germany. I was actually looking for a life-size one, but most of them were not well made and the ones that were, you would need a small bank loan to purchase.

text15.png

Boxes and boxes of pricey retro ornaments. At 75% off, they suddenly became a great bargain! Some were shiny brights and others were the kind my mother used to have, birds of all kinds with clips to fasten to the tree's branches. I have some from my parents and I know they still make them, but, I am really nostalgic about my old ornaments.

Memories give me a warm glow, just knowing they were passed on with love.

separador 1.png

image.png

Who doesn't love to see what they will be selling in some foreign market, shopping in places I have never been to and some, never even heard of. I am always curious about foreign ingredients, different products that are being sold. So, yes! I would love to see you! We all do!! Don't forget to take photos wherever you happen to be shopping - whether it be the grocery, art galleries, or even a Christmas Market, wherever money is exchanged for a service or for merchandise. Don't forget to use the hashtag #MarketFriday and @dswigle.

Please leave the link to your post on here so it can easily be found by others. Make them available here, so we have them in one place. Where else can you take such a quick trip around the globe? Thank you so much!! ❤

image.png

All of the trees are heavily decorated and have ornaments that you just take off and buy. They will restock the tree with other ornaments or sometimes the same one, but, it more normal to just put up something that will decorate it.

text15.png

I tried hard to buy this guy! Do you remember him?? I tried to buy him last year too. He even looked like he was calling out to me! But, they wouldn't have any of that! He really is such a great piece for a display. Perhaps I will try again next year! You have to admit, he is kind of cute! And don't worry, he is fake!

image.png

image.png

There were so many different products for sale. I did buy a few of these boxes. I do like boxes! I admit it. They were just cardboard, but the thickness was amazing. And, they were pretty. They will last for at least 100 years. Give or take a few. I use them over and over and I usually buy some that nest inside each other to save space. Everything you see is for sale. That big tree is a real one that had fallen down and they salvaged it to be part of the scene. They got a bigger one last week and will be incorporating into their spring season.

image.png

And just like that, this show is over! I want to thank you for visiting #MarketFriday! The support you show the challenge and me, just by showing up means a lot. I thank you for that and as always, have a great day!

#MarketFriday Loves You!

Separador_by_mille1234d80r2bh.png

Ribbon anyone?? Simply delightful! W won't deny it, the ribbon makes the most delightful bows on gifts! I promise you! And at 75% off, you can't afford to not buy it. What that breaks down to is $2.50 for a huge roll of fabric ribbon with the wiring. I actually buy it and reuse it every year.

image.png

It's always good for us to pause
And think awhile of Santa Claus--
That jolly symbol we revere
When we approach the changing year.
Behind his beard so long and white,
In which our children take delight,
There beats a heart from color free
Which bids all children come to me - The Spirit of Santa Claus

The gift of love.
The gift of peace.
The gift of happiness.
May all these be yours at Christmas.

May the joy continue to radiate in your lives,
long after the season is gone, gone, gone.
Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!

Love to all, Denise

I dedicate this post to all of you. You bring joy to my soul and spread your love across the world. For this, I thank you. And just like that, these musings are done...and just so you know, although we are throwing glitter around the globe, I can guarantee you that there is still a little left to take us through Christmas. Have a most fabulous day!

Thank you for visiting my post 💖 Because of you, I come back to post again and again, I am encouraged by you, for the time you take to visit, comment or even upvote. For all of these reasons, I am eternally grateful. Don't ever forget what a wonderful world we live in, people. Some days, it is not as easy to see, how wonderful it really is. Kindness counts. Wherever you go, whatever you do.

We Are The World

There comes a time
When we heed a certain call
When the world must come together as one
There are people dying
Oh, and it's time to lend a hand to life
The greatest gift of all

We can't go on
Pretending day-by-day
That someone, somewhere soon make a change
We're all a part of God's great big family
And the truth, you know, love is all we need
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day, so let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives

It's true we'll make a better day, just you and me
Oh, send them your heart
So they know that someone cares
And their lives will be stronger and free
As God has shown us by turning stones to bread
And so we all must lend a helping hand

We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day, so let's start giving
Oh, there's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day, just you and me

When you're down and out, there seems no hope at all
But if you just believe there's no way we can fall
Well, well, well, well let us realize
Oh, that a change can only come
When we stand together as one, yeah, yeah, yeah

We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day, so let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day, just you and me

What a lovely post. I've been gone for a while and missed your posts and your attitude.

Our farmer's markets are just getting good and cranked up. It's orange time with grapefruit just starting. I promise to take some pictures of at least a couple of them for market Friday in the near future.

What a lovely post, down under and inthe UK the day after Christmas is called Boxing day which comes from wya back

Boxing Day was traditionally a day off for servants, and the day when they received a special Christmas box from their masters. The servants would also go home on Boxing Day to give Christmas boxes to their families

Here we usually go shopping on boxing day, but when I was growing up it wasnt so much a shopping day it was the busiest beach day of the year :)

and back to drop off the link for my pos this week

Haha! Of course! It was summer there! :)

What a difference a little heat makes! I did know what Boxing Day was, and once upon a time when it was first settled her e, I am sure it was celebrated that way. If I get in the position of having servant, I promise they can have that day off, and I will send them home with a box.

BTW You win! The beach always does!

Thanks you for dropping you link and awesome comment here.

I should have known you knew what it was, your well traveled and a fountain of Knowledge :)
When I lived in Pakistan, most of the International Staff had what they called servants and normally a few a cook a cleaner a gardener etc, that wasn't for me we had one guy Ibrahim that worked for us, doing a bit of cleaning and things around the house, but for me he was a employee and not a servant i just couldnt come to grips with that term, in fact he and his family became good friends with us, and we helped them out here and there, when we left Ibrahim did not need to work in the City any more his son with our help had done an apprenticeship as a tailor and had a couple of sewing machines i picked up for him and was running a successful business in the remote area they lived and that is something i feel so good about.

infact the last two years there, his family would come and stay with us before or after we took Christmas leave, but we would celebrate Christmas with them even if not on the date, one day he would cook for us and his family and the next we cooked a meal for all of them and us of course, those are times I remember fondly

and you Know I love Market Friday

That is such a heart-warming story, JJ @tattoodjay I love to hear success stories like that. Teach a man to fish, and he will always eat.

Exactly.

What an opportunity to make a difference in someone's life! I want you to seriously dictate and write about some of your experiences, how wonderful a legacy to leave to your grandchildren and your kids. There will be a day that everyone will be interested when they hear what you have to say.

I am always interested and it sounds like an amazing life that is begging to be shared in greater detail!

I am so grateful my you #MarketFriday people!

it was the busiest beach day of the year

Well down Under Christmas is Middle of Summer and back when I was young thats what we always did on Boxing day head to the beach or a river and have fun in the water, not sure if it is till the same these days to be honest

They have some really nice Christmas decorations!! I did not visit our local Christmas shop this year, as we already have enough decorations, which we bought through the years, but I am sure if we visit the shop we will not leave empty handed!!
This year is now very fast approaching the end, it has really just flown past.

Good morning Denise @dswigle. What an amazing store. Chock full of beautiful decorations. I love to bargain shop, and I am one of those people who will buy just after the Holiday when I see those 50-75% off tags. I am so with you when it comes to old ornaments, each one has a little story to tell. My hubby @thebigsweed and I just finished decorating our tree yesterday, what a wonderful day it was hanging ornaments my kids made 30 years ago. So nostalgic, warm fuzzy feelings and all that good stuff.
Wishing you a fantastic Holiday...Enjoy!

The Christmas market could not miss. I like price reductions ... but who doesn't like it? I must admit that I am not too interested in Christmas tree ornaments but I am impressed by your passion for. I like that you are already shopping for next year.
I'm sorry this end of the year is busier for me and I don't have enough time to write, read, comment. I'm glad I managed to write this Friday:
The Fair That Stands In The Shadow Of The Communist Monster

I love price reductions!!! But, I have enough Christmas for me! There is only so much you can have, yes? I do love looking at them, though!

I am glad you managed to write one! Thank you so much, Dan!
