In 1973 Nepal had 34000 marijuana farmers and the cultivation was worth $6.5 million per this 1974 Cableleaks. It was banned amidst US War on Drugs. What would be the economic value of this in today's world where the marijuana Industry is worth $250 Billion and headed towards $1 Trillion by 2030? By seeing this figure Nepal has already lost a lot in economic opportunities in its marijuana industry that could have made a developing country already a developed country.

Another Fact: Nepal confiscated and destroyed $1.5 Billion worth of plant, products between Jan 2018 through Sep 2019 despite the ban.

It’s terrible how many farmers and communities around the world have been deprived of the opportunity to prosper from this plant. I hope 2020 will hold changes to bring justice to this situation.
