이 책을 접하기 전까지 AK47에 대해 잘 알지 못했다. '세계사를 바꿔 놓은 무기의 일생'이란 문구가 적혀 있는데, AK47은 지구에서 가장 많이 생산된 소총이다. AK 소총과 관련한 이야기들을 볼 수 있다.

라이베리아

지구 상에 라이베리아란 나라가 있다. 아프리카에 있는 나라다. 익숙하지 않은 이름이다. 시에라리온이란 이름이 조금 귀에 익을지 모르겠다. 북서쪽으로 시에라리온을 동쪽으로 코티드부아르와 국경을 맞대고 있다. 라이베리아에서 태어나 미국에서 교육받은 전도사 찰스 테일러는 AK로 무장한 100명의 군인을 데리고 라이베리아 대통령궁을 습격해 대통령을 죽이고 나라를 지배했다. 1989년의 일이니 그리 오래된 일이 아니다. 겨우 100명으로 이런 일이 일어났다.
