The (not so) secret diary of the exhausted Dad - 2 weeks and counting.

DEAR DIARY
Day 9: I think it's day 9?? I'm unsure of the day, I don't even know my own name some days.

The days and nights all blur into one and I'm pretty sure there is something were meant to do?? Ohh I remember now. We need to register her birth. I never understood this bit... Apparently she doesn't exist till she's been "officially" registered. Its not just a case of turning up and showing them the baby, apparently I have to prove who I am, tell them what I do for a living, where I was born and then pay them a fee or face a £2000

So here she is - Everyone say hello to 1/4pint.

Day 10 or maybe 12: I've never know a child be so windy! She eat, sleeps and farts. At first I thought she was smiling at me, right up until the point where, what can only be described as a "giant thunder clap" came from her nappy

Day 13: The health visitor (HV) came to check to see how baby 1/4pint was doing and take some blood to do the newborn test. I hope she's OK, with NO family history, I'm pretty sure we will be fine, just have to wait a week to find out.

Day 14: Today was the day you were meant to be born, but of course just like your mother, you were too impatient and just like your Dad, you had to "come" early!!

Speaking of "coming too early", Its been 2 weeks now since you were born and it's been a challenge of bring up that much needed male need..... So I've been dropping hints to Mrs W, of course I got shot down straight away. In fact I had the best response - Apparently she's turning Vegan; her reply was "I've decided to go vegan, I've gone right off Sausage".

Day 15: What with baby 1/4pint being a c-section baby, when the HV originally came to do her newborn hearing test she was unable to get a reading because of all the gunk still in her ear canal. Well, now since its been 2 weeks, we went to try again. This time she passed with flying colours.... Hopefully this one won't be like her big brother and have that child prone disease of "selective hearing".
