Items Travelgirl Stock Up From Japan

Hi Everyone,

Apart from Hello Kitty merchandise and food, I normally buy the below items when I’m in Japan. The reason why is not only we don’t get them in Australia and even if we do, the prices are so much more so these items are a must-buy for me.

Eneloop Rechargeable Batteries

We have many electronics at home and we never can get enough of these batteries. They are long-lasting and each charge keeps us going for ages. Especially now with the kids. We have many toys requiring batteries so having them around the house is a must.

Japanese Hair Care Products

Since the price hike of an oatmeal shampoo I used to use, I have converted to using Japanese hair care products. I don’t use normal mainstream shampoo and conditioners in Australia as I believe it makes my hair really brittle and at one stage I was losing small bunches of hair each time I wash my hair. I then found an oatmeal shampoo and it worked wonders but the price hike was not nice. During a visit to Japan, I bought the Shiseido Tsubaki range and have never gone back. Japanese hair products are cheaper for my needs and the best part is they smell way nicer than the oatmeal shampoo.

Lip Balms

If you walk past a pharmacy in Japanese, you will see many types of lip balm for sale. They are not only popular for locals but also for tourists to take home as souvenirs. For these low prices, you still get a great product. I go through 1 every month at least so I normally stock up for a year. I love the Dhc ones although a bit pricy (around $7-8 AUD each) but they hydrate the lips instantly. The other one is Waterlip by Mentholatum which is a cheap alternative with a similar result.

Mobile Cases

Lastly, I would always check out mobile cases in Japan. Not only they are good quality, but the variety is also a lot better than what we get in Sydney. Most importantly Japan has more variety from the Sanrio range which to me which for me is a clear winner. The best places I find with a big variety would be at Yodabashi and Don Quixote.

There you have it. Hopefully, my recommendation are useful to you as they are what I normally use at home and find it worthy to share. Do you have something you tend to by in a certain country?
