Consumed

Teaching, if you let it, could be a 24/7 job. There always seems to be one more thing that you could possibly do. You could grade that assignment, or you could buy a book for that kid who just refuses to read but maybe this book will finally crack him, or you could call home for that girl who is finally getting your class and tell her parents about the spark in her eyes and brain that is bringing you so much joy.... If you don't create some boundaries, don't steal some time for yourself, like powder and fire, you will be consumed.

I might be allowing myself to be a little consumed lately. Its that time of year where I get the opportunity to work for great American beer festival, plus working teaching, and well- there are days when I just go through the motions. Just doing what it takes to get through the week. I have caught myself counting down the days to the weekend, and that's not really where I want to be.

Thank goodness for quiet friends who help you get out of your head once in a while

@torico and I had the opportunity to go to an art festival and the Rocky mountain arsenal last weekend. We saw so much creativity, got to walk, got to see some awe inspiring creatures

Ultimately, I'm grateful. For friends who remind me to take some time for me. For doing what I love, even if I'm letting it kill me. For the people and places that bring me joy. For the ability to do the things.

1 more week and than maybe I can stop counting down for a bit.

I'm going to take some time to breathe now.
