Don't be Busy - Be Steady

Being busy isn't all that.

People ask

How's business?

And the kneejerk response is

All good, I'm really busy...

But "busy" doing what? And why do you want to be seen to be busy? Is it like it's some external validation mechanism -

if I look busy then I must be in demand and that looks really good (doesn't it..?)

Surely a better strategy is to be "steady". Not busy.

Steady suggests that you're in control. You're the one calling the shots on your time (not others). You have time to pause and think. Take time out. Do the important stuff.

Let's aim to be steady. Not be a busy fool.
