Where Do You Find Peace In Always Attempting To Attain More?

“ The consumption society has made us feel that happiness lies in having things, and has failed to teach us the happiness of not having things.”

The problem with desiring minds is that they are doomed to make the human unhappy. And yet we perpetually condition our minds to want more and more and more. We run around endlessly chasing for what we desire like our life depended on it. And yet the moment we attain the object of our desire, excitement gives way to boredom. Where’s the fun in desiring what you already have? It is no wonder we find ourselves afflicted by chronic unhappiness. The truth is that we’re trapped in the wrong chase and we are deeply unaware of it.

By searching for something external to us, we lose sight of who we are. Because you see, we confuse our desiring mind with who we are. And yet for the majority of us, we don’t know who the fuck we are. How can you know what you want, if you don’t know what you are? Simple answer. You become the target of choice for the brainwashing of the masses. Society falsely claims that she can provide you with what you want. Trade yourself for a paycheck, and you’ll be a step closer from having tasted the most superficial form of fleeting happiness.

Desires don’t buy happiness, they get you at best conditional happiness. And if you’ve heard about conditional happiness, you sure do know that she works at her own hours. Sorry sister, cant’t get her to work for you full time. Least reliable employee in the building, that’s for sure. Hence why you shouldn’t rely on the fulfilment of specific conditions to feel a certain way. Because the very nature of conditions is that they are constantly changing. Peace doesn’t come to those who continuously want more. Peace comes to those who realize that they have all they need, just as they are.

Peace Love and Anarchy. We can't think about trying tobsave the world without freeing ourselves first letting go of the anger. I've found Zen meditation work's the best. I like your post.

When I was at the gym this morning there was a new wall hanging in the change room:

So now, as part of my martial arts training, I suppose that what I need to wish for is more and more and more being (being = what you can bear), rather than things, so that I can get with the program :-)

I've heard of "wish fulfilling" gems before, but I've never heard of a "wish fulfilling" wall hanging :-)
