“Our problems stem from our acceptance of this filthy, rotten system.”

Headed voluntarily toward collective suicide, inducing chaos appears like the only viable option to change a system that screams dysfunction and inadequacy.
Pretending to form health care practitioners, when in reality the hidden aim is to create a faithful tribe of little followers. Priding ourselves in thinking we are certified psychologists and social workers, when the harsh truth is that we’re merely technicians pretending to "fix people". Maybe we should see reality for what it really is for once and realize that what needs to be fixed are the institutions propelling the madness.

Whenever technocrats are around, social justice is nowhere to be found. In their hands we lay the responsibility of giving care to those in help, completely dismissing the fact that a management team doesn’t manage care but profit. You can’t be connected to people’s needs when all that’s on your mind is the image of dollar signs. Paradoxically, we help our patients handle better the dynamics of the dysfunctional system in which they are trapped, all the while being ourselves slaves of a system that doesn’t have our best interest at heart.

Because meeting targets comes before meeting needs. But hey, “your health matters so much to us.” So much so that we’ll discharge you 12 hours after a suicide attempt. Why not put you back in the same fucked up environment that led you to carry out this very attempt? When are we going to realize that the problem rests in the hands of malfunctioning institutions? Oh, and do something about it.

The health care structures are not responding to our needs, they are merely handling people’s behaviors. When the same patients come over and over throughout the years, it isn’t a sign that they are to blame, it’s rather a sign that their needs have never been addressed properly, all the less continuously.
