Introverts paradise: when someone else cancels your plans for you

Now, it doesn't help that I've not been feeling great for the past three days, but I just had this huge feeling of relief when my neighbour stopped by our house to tell him his 'other half' wasn't feeling well enough to go out for dinner tonight with us.

Wait, wait, so I don't have to go shower, dress up and be social tonight?!
And as a bonus I'm not the one who has to cancel the plans?

I almost couldn't contain the excitement that appeared on my face.

Yes, feeling relief when someone cancels social plans is a thing - and all introverts can relate to that. That relief even exists when you were actually looking forward to the social event - the relief that you don't have to leave the house is simply bigger. Always.

Now, these neighbours we were going out with both are introverts too, so maybe he even knew how exciting it can be when someone cancels plans, but I know I must look more extraverted to him than I actually am - a huge trap I've set up around myself for most of my life.

They're actually very nice people to hang out with, as they both are introverted nerds as well they keep their outings short and are clear about when they want to go back home. A simple 'it's time to go to bed for me' is all one of us needs to share for all of us to be on our way home again.

Now, the extraverted people reading this must think I am weird or something, but I just had a great laugh reading through all these tweets of fellow introverts. It's just sooo funny and I relate so much to how we/they experience the world.

Anyway - I was feeling shit for the past few days, but now I feel a little better. And I decided I'm not going to feel bad about that.

Do you have plans for your Saturday night? Or are you a fellow introvert happy to watch Netflix on the couch like me? If yes, what are you watching?

Or basically, tell me anything. I have no plans tonight and I might even respond, digitally, to your story.

Maybe the order to cancel the plans came from the don of all introverts, capo di tutti di capi Paul Cancellano himself.

maybe there should be a thing of making plans to surprisedly then cancel them for introverts :D or maybe then you would expect it so it will not feel so good :)

i am photographing an 18 birthday party later, so bunch of people in one place. it will be fine when it starts.

if you want you could watch my latest (well kinda first "real") music video. it is fun :)

i am into witcher on netflix right now. not sure how i feel about it yet.

Ahahaha. "Sign up for this event here, we'll cancel it for you on a yet unknown moment before the event will take place" :') Perfect!

A party sounds horrible, but I've always suspected a high percentage of photographers is introvert, as it's the perfect 'hiding place'. People won't bother you, and IF they do you can just pretend you're walking away to take that perfect shot :P

I'm definitely going to watch the music video tonight when I have the loud music that's on know turned off :D

As far as the Witcher goes: I'm watching it too, two episodes to go. I was afraid it would be too much 'handsome heroic man gets all the pretty girls' but it's actually better than I thought :-)

i am on the 5th episode just now. i was a bit lost in the what when and who (i suck with names, that does not help) but sucker for fantasy so...

small town, everybody kinda knows everyone and after a while you become an official 18 birthday photographer :D so i just need to survive the official stand here smile part, because i kinda trained them that spontaneous photos are cool, so i do what i am good at, observing people :D

Yes, it isn't immediately clear how the timeline works. I've just watched the final episode, come back when you're finished :D

Good luck on being the best 18-yo photographer in your country :P Observing is the best, glad you sold them that as 'a great style' for pictures :D I would do the same.

just finished it. don't know, i had a feeling as if i watched a long pilot episode. had a feeling that the plot did not really moved from the first episode :) kinda hate where they finished the season. and i feel that for the people (like me) that did not play the game or read books it is a bit hard to follow what is going on. it is not spectacular, it is fine, will for sure watch next season.

Now this is weird. I am a greatly introverted person (love being just by myself) but I rarely have this kind of feelings when my friends cancel our plans to meet up. Maybe it´s because I mostly hang out with very close friends that I know for decades... However, no matter how much fun (and beer :D) we have in the night, I usually want to be alone the other day :) Cheers to all the introverts out there!

Lol, yes, I don't have these feelings with my close friends, but everyone else... It can be fun to meet up, but I don't regret a cancellation in that case. I try to only meet with close friends, but sometimes people pick me as their favourite companion somehow :')

Oh, and YES for the recovery day after EVERY social event! Haha! Cheers to you.

"...but sometimes people pick me as their favourite companion somehow :')..."

No surprise, like I said in your recent anniversary post, even the blockchain loves you :D

Haha, the "recovery alone day" is a must after every social event, that´s for sure ;)

I think there are a LOT of introverts on Steem! We love connections, but here we can switch off as we like.

Exactly! Here - I've been social by replying to you! And you have no way of knowing if/that I'm wearing pyjamas, didn't brush my hair, and am absolutely anti-social on my Saturday night :D It's perfection. Cheers!

I think it partly is - when you're young as an introvert you act like an extravert, but the older you get the more you accept who you REALLY are - and gain some mental health for it in return :P

I'd take a hot steamy shower, slip on a big cotton tee, crawl into bed with a juicy historical romance novel.
