Practice Makes Perfect

I recently went to a baseball game and couldn’t help thinking about the importance of practice. In particular, the baseball has what is known as the “on-deck circle”. This is an area that is close to where the the batter is taking pitches. However, the person in the on-deck circle is not technically in the game.

However, the on-deck area is set aside for the person that is due to come up to bat next an designated spot to warm up. In other words, this is where someone can stretch and take a few practice swings.

This also provides an interesting perspective. The person on-deck can get their timing down as to when to swing in order to give them the best chance of getting a hit. So, one can practice swing in an environment with real world pitches, but without the penalty of striking out.

I couldn’t help but think that there is a valuable life lesson in this game. Watching others in the real world can give us insight into how to be successful ourselves. If this can be done in an environment in which we do not suffer the consequence of failure, this gives us the ability to be “on-deck” and practice before jumping into a real world scenario. So, take advantage of learning from other successful people in life. Study what they do as this may make your experience more favorable when it is your turn to get in the batters box.

Thank you for using "perfect" rather than giving in to Leftist ideology by using "progress."

Ha! Living life and making mistakes along the way is perfection. It’s about picking ourselves back up, learning from our mistakes, and getting back into the game. The best players have cuts, bruises, and dirt on their uniform as a result of playing hard.
