Forkhouse 5: 6 days left

With Hardfork 21 now a mere 6 days away our feeds will be littered with nonsense from people telling us how it is going to be when it hits. It would be churlish of me not to join in.

Join me in the second part of my most ambitious series yet...

I pounded my fists against the metal door of my cell for what seemed like the hundredth time that day but again, as before, there was only silence.

I had no idea how long I had been here.

I had no idea how they had gotten me.

I had no idea, really, who they were.

Like most people, I lived an uneventful life. Sure I had heard of the Hardfork. I had even heard of the DAO but I had thought nothing of it.

Won't affect me.

I had snorted to one of my online friends.

And now, here I was. Fucked.

Trapped in a bland and empty cell. How long had it been, days?

Who are you?! What do you want with me?

I slammed my body up against the door again. There was a small hatch in it just about eye height. I had never seen it open. At least, I didn't think I had seen it open.

I stepped away and paced back and forth.

Time seemed immaterial here.

I felt as if I were going mad.

You have to help me? They are going to go ahead with the Hardfork, it will be a disaster for all of us!

I railed at the door once more, my hands leaving bloody streaks against the unforgiving metal.

We mustn't let them!!! I mean 50/50? If we shout loud enough they will hear us?! They will stop it!

Again no response.

I stepped back from the door shaking my head.

Then a muffled noise approached, resolving into footsteps which stopped just beyond the door.

The hatch slid back. Dark eyes peered in at me. Not a hint of softness in their gaze.

You think the Hardfork so bad?

My jailer spoke softly.

Haven't you heard me? They're changing the curve for God's sake?! And don't get me started on the SPS??!

I spat in outrage both at the question and at my captivity.

The eyes blinked and the voice spoke again.

What if I told you... That the Hardfork had already happened?

I staggered back in horror as the hatch slammed shut. My Jailer's ghostly laughter receding off into the distance.

No... Nooooooooooooooo...

That's true! 8 wish I had the time to split my shit up and curate like mad on the tribes. You agree doing awfully well!

I would normally not hesitate but the wee guy is ill and the notes have been nightmarish. So sadly no beer!b to the weekend at least :0)
