Swiss Flightshow over Lucerne city, and why this is stupid

Every year when the 'Lozärner Määs' or better said the big fun fair is in the center of the city, this also means it is time for the airshow around the city. An impressive sight most people say, but come on....is this really such a good idea?

Waking up on Friday from two sonic booms was already enough for me to remember what is going on. There are going to be little airplanes all over the city today. And then somewhere a little sound in the back of my head is thinking.... 'I hope it all goes well, and that my day of working will not turn into an Episode of disaster'

Ofcourse ofcourse, this is a little bit dark thinking, but realistically... A flight show over a city is a stupid idea, when you really look at safety measures. In the end....stuff can 'just' happen and then these planes can land right into this ferris wheel. Not a good idea right?

With some nice examples of the Swiss patron doing a flightshow over the wrong city about a month back, and the news of the cancellation of a flightshow just this week because of tears in the airplanes (wtf) makes you think even more about how all of this actually is.

What I find so very strange is that these kinds of things the Swiss take as 'normal' because it is 'tradition.' Just as that putting actual real candles with fire in a Christmas tree (which can burn your house down to the groud in less than 10 seconds) is also considered as tradition and because of that normal. Also the least safe idea ever, but don't you go dare questioning this...Tradition is important.

Don't get me wrong. Tradition is important. But living in a country where so much is forbidden and fined because of ridiculous safety measures it is quite hard to understand that all of a sudden these things are allowed. Maybe I will never understand these kinds of things.... Ow well....
