Sometimes howling is the only thing to do. My big dog is half malamute and she howls all the time, whether there's a moon or not. It always sounds exuberant and joyful but it makes human conversation impossible, so it can be a little annoying.

I love the sound of dogs howling! I am probably part dog. Hound dogs are the cutest at it. Mine are totally confused about it though. They try, and just end up making weird bark sounds :)
