Leaving Faith

avatar

I'm leaving Faith this weekend; Tomorrow morning to be more specific. I'm packed, my Landcruiser is loaded and come 7:30 Saturday morning I'm jumping in and leaving.

You may have seen a post from yesterday outlining a shooting event I run with a couple of friends. If not, you can read it here. Trust me, it's magnificent. The post. The event's pretty good too. I'm heading off to a little spot called Tailem Bend just over an hour or so south-east of Adelaide on the River Murray to set up for the event on Saturday and then deploy it Sunday.

So no, I'm not leaving my wife per se, just for Saturday and Sunday with a joyous reunion happening Sunday evening when I come back home.

Faith was considering coming along however considering it's a pretty full on weekend for me and I won't have a lot of time to spend with her she preferred to stay home. Her mum is coming over and they'll hang around together with our cats or whatever. You can see her pictured here at Tintagel, UK - Another time at which I didn't leave her.

I'm not one of those guys who feels reluctant to show emotion towards my wife. I mean I know loads of guys who are too embarrassed to say I love you or admit to missing their partners when they are away but that's not me. I don't going around reciting love-sonnets or anything like that [sometimes I might] but have never been embarrassed to show public affection.

My wife and I go together like ice and whisky. We aren't totally alike but it's our differences that draw us together, and our similarities. That probably doesn't make sense but in truth it doesn't need to. It works for us and that's all that matters. So, I'm going to miss her over the weekend.

So, my weekend is all laid out before me and whilst I don't mind organising the event and all the work around it event weekend's are always a fairly hectic time. The work and effort is offset by the fact I get to hang with some bro's and bro-ette's who come along to help though and tomorrow night we have a meal at a local pub planned then back to the gun range for a bonfire and bullshit session. All that after a long day of setting up and shooting the course of fire to ensure it works perfectly for the shooters come Sunday. It's a long day but enjoyable backed up by another on Sunday; The event, post-event drinks and BBQ then the pack-down and drive home.

I plan to grab a few pictures and post some if possible although I have to prioritise the event considering the competitors all pay to enter. We have to put on a show for them and that's what takes priority. We'll see what I can do though.

I hope y'all have a great weekend planned no matter where you are or what you're doing. Life is too short to float through. Better to design and create your ideal version of it and there's no better time to do so then now. I mean, right now.

I'll leave you with a track by one of my favourite bands, Van Halen. It was released in 1991 on the album For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge and the version below was remastered in 2004. Listen, or not, either way get out and own the weekend.

Van Halen - Right Now

What quasi-gun post would be complete without a picture of some guns. So, here's a row of guns from a competition I competed in a little while ago. Mines in the middle there somewhere with the Knights Templar cross on the scope - Probably not going to see it though. All of these are 30-cal bolt action rifles. In this competition we were shooting from 250-1600m. Anyway, that satisfies the requirements for a gun image.

Yep, it was a great collection of some pretty awesome shootin' irons. The comp was awesome too, one of my best results. Great 3 days!

Have a good weekend. I didn't need to listen to the song you posted. As soon as I saw it the music started in my head and the song began playing. I haven't thought about, or heard, it for years. Thanks for the reminder.

I am missing the Lil' Guy. Ok, maybe not so much..... He is a Terrorist Kitten....!!!!

Looks like our new rescue is helping around the house with cleaning up some dinner plates.
Told @pooky-jax to just put that one in the cabinet. No wash needed..... LoL
