Winds Of Change

Hello once again fellow Steemians!

I hope you are all doing great. Being abscent from the blockchain for some time has made me curious of how everyone is doing.

Since it's been a while since I've posted anything, fiction writing, cultural sharing etc, I thought it's time that I say something about what is happening with me, what I am capable of sharing that is, to explain what's going on.

First things first. As all my followers know, I have been sharing contest posts for months. PHCTOP3 look familiar? I hope so! It's been going on for half a year! The big news on this is we (@plantstoplanks, @cheese4ead, @nickyhavey and I) have detached from the PHC branch and has formed an independent account now called @yourtop3. The monthly contest has been growing strong and every month we are given amazing entries, this lastest month (November) being the record number of people taking part, and can you guess what the topic? Food! Comfort food to be precise.

Since we have just recently branched off into our new account keep a close look out for December's contest under @yourtop3. It is truly a fun contest and there is a lot of engagement between everyone that enters. Plus there's a few extra perks 😉 so if you are thinking of joining next month but you want to know more, come join our Discord channel!

What else is up?

Well, I've finally...after several months in waiting, have been accepted to become the voice of francophone families in the town I live in, which means that I am on a French committee to be able to bring more activities to the families here.

We are a group of 7 members that each represent the town's they are from, coming together to discuss what we can do as a whole and for our own.

The committee is a part of CSCT (clinic), Early On (a children's group for ages 2.5-4) and Keepers Of the Circle (indigenous family learning center).

My goals are not only to bring activities to the families in this somewhat ghost town, but to also be a bridge to the French and indigenous families. Even though we all "work" towards the same goals, and the logos come together inside a circle, we are still very separate. Yet being in Northern Ontario, a French community, there are many indigenous people that are also of the French language. So why are we separated? Systems, government, state of minds etc. Not cool. Plus we are all the people that make up this town, this one community, so let's make this work for everyone, not just the few. That's my opinion anyways.

It is a lot of volunteer work, nothing is paid except traveling expenses for meetings. The bonus part aside from what I've already mentioned above is that there are also workshops included. Trainings that we can benefit from and even put on our resume. For a mother that hasn't worked a proper job (not counting my parents restaurant) for 9 years, I could really use that. Hoping all this can help me move forward in ways so that I can independently support my children.

Apart from that, it is winter here.

That's the amount we've accumulated already since October 31rst.

Although this week it has started to melt some because of warmer weather, but we should be driving back to -20s celcius in the next week or two.

Piper has been loving this fluffy stuff, always asking to go outside just to dig and play. She's still such a pup this one.

The kids have also been enjoying the fun as they build forts and snowmen. New seasons are always fun.

That's about all I can say for now as I try to get my mind back into blogging and finish writing everything that I want to. Remember the fiction In The Queen's Black Boots? I never got around not writing the last 2-3 parts. Things have a way of getting to me that distract me from my goals. Also on my list is to continue writing a bout my trip in New Orleans. There's still much to share.

And so I bid you all farewell for now and hope to get back on more often and soon. Take care!

Wow what an awesome update and great to see what you have been up to! Great to see you back posting again and to do it all through Partiko app as well! Hope you get a laptop soon.

Looking forward to December's edition of the Top 3 contest now and who will come out trumps in this month's biggest entry list yet!

Love the sound of the work you're doing with the goals of bringing the fun and activities to your local town and community! I'm sure someone with your fun nature will bring the partayyyyy!

And that is a gargantuan amount of snow haha! Almost as much as we get in the UK...over the course of 100 years lol!

Keep cool! But not too cool lol 😎

Thanks Nick!

I will be working hard to doing the best I can for the people. I've got a list of goals and I will be needing to do some spreadsheets and statistics throughout the new year. See what works, what doesn't, what gets people excited etc.

This is just the beginning of snow. Lots more time to accumulate. The fun part is shoveling it and cleaning the driveway, not! Hahaha

I really do like the new @yourtop3 logo - especially the earth - you are such an international team!

What a great opportunity representing the francophone community. I do like it when volunteer work has meaningful outcomes for both the volunteers and the communities they work in. Look forward to hearing how things develop.

Nice to have you back!

Yea @gabrielatravels really brought our vision of the logo to life and we all love it too! As you know, the contest is open to everyone on steem and with our #2020vision we want to onboard the outside steem world to it too!

Thanks for your awesome support with it all @fionasfavourites!

Thank you for pointing that out Nick, I will edit the post to give her credits, my brain is tired, my eyes are tired and I'm not thinking at even 75% capacity.

It's an amazing image to see. I like to stare at it from time to time lol. And we love spreading the love across the globe 😛

It will take some time to get things done because we have to work as a group even though we are separate communities and not everyone has the same schedule but I will be working hard on pushing through to get things done faster. Gotta get the ball rolling.

Thank you for sticking around! I really need to be surrounded by great people, I am lucky to have you as a friend.

Brrr! Happy to see you pop back on for a quick update! Life gets a little crazy sometimes, but it's nice to check in with virtual friends, too. :) I'm also excited to see the awesome things you do in that new local endeavor! At least you know you've got a few spreadsheet whizzes to help you out should you need some support (looking at the fellas here, haha). I think I would be happy playing with Piper and the kids in the snow for a few days, then I can imagine it probably does get a bit old after a while. Stay warm my friend!

I was definitely thinking of the gifted men that we've been working with lol. They've got mad spreadsheet skills haha.

For the snow, it gets old after 3 months of freezing, and winter lasts about 5-6 months. Depressing is the word after 4 months of it 😂

You sound like you're incredibly busy but keeping your spirits up! Awesome!

I need to admit I do occasionally miss those -20, -30 winters. Sometimes. There's something cozy about it.

😂😂😂 how do you miss such cold weather?? The only thing cozy about it aside from the fire is staying in bed under warm blankets...oh and hot chocolate 😝

Well, that's definitely part of it! I could stay inside in the front room watchign the snow come down all day long if I had a hot drink in my hand. :)
