Phil, Ministry, Primus!!!: November 24 2019
Yesterday was pretty badass! In hte afternoon @stryeyz and I went to The Backyard Public House in Spokane. The food was extremely good and the beers were tasty. I like the place and it has a cool vibe to it. Their menu is nicely diverse and has a good variety of really good looking dishes.
After we ate we parked in our normal spot north of the arena and then went in to experience Phil Anselmo, Ministry, and Primus!!!!!
SO FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!
We got to our seats as Phil was starting his set. They played Pantera songs and I was wishing my oldest could have been there to hear them play Walk as he LOVES the song. I never got to see Pantera when Dime Bag was alive and so I am super happy to at least have Phil singing.
Ministry came on next and Al ran through about a third of Psalm 69. It was just outstanding to hear New World Order, Jesus Built My Hotrod, and Just One Fix. I have listened to Ministry for well over 20 years now and this was only the second time I have seen them. Unfortunately Al played the last song and just left the stage, a bit anticlimactic.
Primus was next and Les’s beyond distinctive voice immediately set to work. Songs from back in the catalog were played with My Name is Mudd getting a solid reaction from the crowd, Frizzle Fry, Jerry Was A Race Car Driver, and the one I loved Those Damned Blue-Collar Tweakers. Les is such an amazing bass player and it is pretty hard not to hear South Park in my head when I hear his voice.
I had figured from the outset of not staying for Slayer. I know a good amount of Slayer but I am fine not seeing their set. It was apparently a pretty long one and sounds like it was good, but whatever, sleep was better.
We had a number of drinks and poor @stryeyz got sick. It was an unfortunate situation but we managed and got her home. The vomiting all happened outside the house so once we got home it was just doing some cleaning and getting her to bed. This in no way affected my evening, it was just a small thing, and my ears are still ringing today.
Such a damned cool evening!
