Love that lasts

This won't be my first write
About loving and meaning it
Just emotions don't feel right
When certainty in love feels amiss

To love isn't a condition
That comes and goes with the season
It's entirely of our own volition
So there's no forced feelings

Why then does love fade so fast
When people seem certain all the time
Becoming so difficult to see couples last
Once the passion goes past its prime

The only love I see is for our children
Everything else seems selfish
You never give up on those you love
Simply because it got boring
