Boiling water is a mundane thing that we do. Yet it is an important thing that we do.

I am boiling this water to make my coffee this morning. Yes, for coffee one must boil water as you can not make a good cup of coffee with cold water.

So I fire up the stove and heat up the water. So what is the boiling point of water? Well actually that depends on how high you are above sea level.

Where I live it is about 15 feet above sea level, then for me it would be 212 degrees F for water to boil for me, that is.

Now the higher one is above sea level, then the lower the temperature is required for water to boil. For if a person is 5000 feet above sea level then it would only take 202 degrees F for water to boil.

So back to boiling water, a mundane thing to do, but still important. If one wanted to drink water, but maybe the water has some growth in it. Well you might not want to drink the water straight out of the river.

So one might boil the water first to kill any bacteria and viruses. The water wont be purified, but anything that is living in the water will be dead.

I like to keep four barrels of water in my garage for emergencies. You see you never know if the water may get cut off or not.

So if that happens then I still have some emergency water to draw upon. Will I drink it straight from the barrels? No, something I might not see may be growing in it.

Well, if there were an emergency and my water was cut off, then I can still have my emergency water, but I will boil that water, then cool it, then filter that water. Then I will drink it.

I have a gravity water filter that I can put cool water into and it will filter my water.

So I have boiled some water, what I did with it was to make my morning coffee. I have that coffee at my side as I am writing this blog.

Let's end with some scripture, as it is written, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. John 1:1-5.
