If undertaking to genetically modify myself is the only way to keep the fascist would be overlords from doing it without resorting to violence, I’m going with violence. I think it’s inevitable at that point unfortunately.

While I did not specify, and but implied, it was the only way, I actually completely agree with you.
However, I did make the point that learning this technology is beneficial, and is worth undertaking for that reason alone. Also, I reckon there's plenty of folks that both fear the off label ingredients and their effects in commercial vaccines but do want to be vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
For them, this is nearly the perfect solution.
I do not intend to alter my DNA in this way. However, I do not have any interest in preventing people from doing as they will as long as they grant that same authority over myself to me. It's when, as mandatory DNA vaccines undertake, others seek to employ their power to make me their property that I cannot permit them to so do while I live.
After my corpse cools, it will be subject to their authority, and not until then.
