A look Forward on my steemit Anniversary

Looking Forward to the next two years

Two years ago on 7-31-2017, my account was approved by Steemit at 17:56 Alaska Time. Some front ends have my joined date as August 1st. That would be correct also, as 7-31-2017 17:56 Alaska Time would have been 8-1-2017 01:56 Universal Coordinated Time.

It has been a pretty fun two years, I could go on and on about all the different people I have met and have communicated with over the last two years, shouting them out one by one, but I know me, I would forget people that have been important in my growth and my enjoyment on steem, So I will take this opportunity to put a few thoughts out and see where they can go.

Scot-tribes, and Steem-Engine tokens. have started up and been around now for almost a month. There are bound to be growing pains, and people questioning the need for them when SMT's are just around the corner. Sometime that corner can be a long way off, the creators of Steem-Engine and Scot-tribe system are here now. I have enjoyed collecting a few of these coints/tokens, I see post everyday where people are having fun with them now, not waiting to turn the corner.

I have been re-learning HTML and CSS in the hopes that one day someone will make it possible to have a personal home page on the block chain. I know a lot of people no longer have "Personal Home Pages", when the internet started and service providers were a dime a dozen, hosting individual and personal web pages was the norm. Things changed. They, (and no I have no clue any more than anyone else who THEY are), figured out they could make a shit ton of money by charging extra for the home pages, and that by making them Re-New every two years they could keep making money for ever.

We have seen what this sort of control has done. We have seen what Microsoft's Purchase of Git-Hub has done. It is very easy for any domain name to be taken down at the will of THEY/THEM. HTML is text. CSS is text. Block Chain tech handles TEXT very well. I look forward to the day that I will log-in and see a post announcing Get your personal Homepage now. I would like an online home page, I can envision Https://bashadow.steemit.com address. Or any of the other front ends as an address, https;//bashadow.pal-net.io.

Why you might ask would this be a good idea. One of the primary reason for me is not that important, the most important reason is that with a block chain hosted web site, you have a layer of almost un-touchability added in. We have seen how easy it is for them to take down you. Price of a domain and renewal fees can be an issue. I could give go-daddy or similar hosting sites money to host my page, and then I have to give someone else money to rent my web site name. Yes it is rent only, you do not own your name, if you forget to re-register and someone notices, then they can take your name and trash your old stuff. (People have a tendency to not update their bookmarks).

So the above is two, what I think are, good reason to have a web page hosted on a block chain. My reason is because I would like people to be able to see what I have done. I like to take pictures and share them, (been a tad slow in that department lately). Showing a portfolio of pictures on steem block chain is not that easy. Yes I know you can go to steempeak and they have a button or image search available, and there are other ways also. I also know that it is not that difficult to create with HTML, CSS and very basic Java Scripting, to have a slide show of all your pictures ever posted, (well until the picture holding time runs out).

I also like to write. sometimes I write a lot, some times those little stories are loosely connected. With my own homepage I could have an easy to reach Table Of Content for all my writings. I could have a section of what's new today, what did I find today, and all the other things that people used to post on personal pages 10 years ago, before they started to die out, and become to expensive.

Along with Steem-Engine, and Scot-Tribes, there is TokenBB, a bulletin board system that is available to anyone that want to use it or to have a personal version of it. This could easily be added to a personal page, and could be used as a guest book style site.

All the parts are here for a block chain Personal web page. It just need to be built. I know a lot of you are thinking but I have a steemit/pal-net/etc page, why do I need a "Personal" page. We all have our own Idea of what a page should look like, what a page should contain, and some of us want the freedom to design our own presence, to present our best profile. You are limited on what you can do with your "Steemit" page. You have no design option, you can not change the color, layout or any of it. You can change your banner. You can link a steem page to your profile, but the Mark Up/Down script/language is not very conducive to adding your own personal style to a web page.

I can see a lot of uses for a personal page, for those looking to have a more Professional page, think of what you can do, you can show your current products, you can have a link to your pay-pal or other transaction feature, links to parts of the internet that do now work on a block chain. I myself do not have any of these type accounts, I have no idea what you can do with a personal ETSY site, or Amazon Affiliate Site, or how customizable a facebook or youtube site is. I do know that with a normal web page you can link to all of those. On a steemit blog/post you as a professional can not include any of the search engine meta tags you can not on a steemit blog/post be very easily found unless you already have a following. With a Professional type page individual page you have full control over your meta tags, your search engine optimization schemes, and all of these have the potential to bring people into your steem block chain world, and to have them cast votes on your content thus increasing your income.

Well that is pretty much it for my Steemitversay post. It has been a fun two years so far, I think the future holds promise, we just need to embrace it, and I really hope some developer see's the potential of Block Chain Personal Web pages. I know IBM Block Chain does this for big business, so hopefully someone will do this for the people.

That is good news, I have missed the days of Personal Web Pages. There is so much that could be done with them.

Geocities, and angelfire were pretty much canned type fill in the blanks and have a web page from what I remember, the pages done by just people were often pretty good looking. It just got to expensive to keep a personal site, they priced everyone out. First it was the registration fee's then the extra fee from your service provider, then god forbid should your web site get a lot of traffic they tacked on traffic fee's at the service/host provider side. So I am hoping a cost of 3 steem to get set up, and that is it, then it is just edits to make changes. But just a dream, but sometimes dreams do come true, but then again sometimes they get turned into nasty heart attack nightmares.

I think we shall be witnessing some awesome things that endup on blockchain but personally i dont know what to expect, just everything digitalised with AI (non avoidable already).. A cool thing that a steemian realised is doable on this blockchain is @steemvpn. Nothing to do with websites, but i was shocked it can be done even with an sp delegation! It all boggles me, i just live as free as i can and buy the crypto, and leave the tech talk to people who know 😁

Yeah, figuring out the tech stuff is not easy, way above my pay-grade, but I can put out wants and hope someone with enough tech savvy can do it.

Congratulations with your anniversary. Wonder what the picture with your tokens shown is (I am a mobile blogger).

Long address for a website. I think people/they can block and remove your site on the block chain too.

The picture is my at home start page for all things steemit. The tokens being displayed are the first Dozen that I received from various people, and air drops.

Post and comments can be blocked from view on a block chain, but they are supposedly still there. having someone block a page from family viewing with the tools available in most browsers is definitely possible. having a service provider block only one particular website built on a block chain with out blocking the entire block chain I am not sure they could do, but yes Main Stream Internet Providers can do pretty much what ever they want until people complain. FaceBook, AT&T, Verizon, YouTube, can all block and deny access to content, if your webpage is on one of those service providers, or you have a facebook/youtube account, it is very easy for them to just turn your site off to the entire world. I do not think that AT&T or Facebook would be able to turn a Block Chain website off to the world. They just do not have that much control.

I am not sure how block chains work, if there is one and only one IP address for steemit, or if that is constantly changing based on what node or server you happen to get when you log in. I do know that steemit Inc blocked a post. Supposedly that post was still visible on other front ends and accessible through other means, but that was before my time on steemit so not sure at all about the details.

Perhaps @steemit or others can answer that question. Someone once said to me that everything can be deleted as if the witnesses close down.

In time it will all disappear. There are after all very very few BBS's around anymore. There are hardly any service providers that also offer hosting. I just think that the block chain technology could possibly bring personal web page hosting back. It would be a real bonus if they could offer it also to businesses.

I can see small mom and pop stores with a block chain site, some one comes into their shop to buy something then they can just call up the crypto register on their smart phone, make payment, store owner looks at home page see's transaction done and complete and gives a receipt. It certainly takes a lot longer than 3 seconds to insert your credit card in the slot, wait, and wait some more, then it finally flashes approved, and all you need to do is remember to take your credit card back and put it in your wallet. Check out time could be reduced quite a bit with a 3 second transaction.

Block Chain Hosted web sites could, if feasible, really become the next internet of all things.

Might be it is a plus but I keep thinking by myself... what if there is no power again.

Many people still have a site. I don't. Would not know any reason why I need it.

Ahhh I see .
Like Retro MySpace!

This would be great!!
Now you can tell your friends where to find you.
Instead of having to explain steemit. :)
