Cool Inventions Headed To Your Neighborhood

avatar
(Edited)

Howdy folks and greetings from the Great Plains of North Texas!

I saw a couple things that interested me this week. I hope both will be coming to your town and neighborhood because they're both significant improvements in my opinion.

The first one is an improvement to the ancient traffic light design. Traffic lights were invented in 1914 and first used in Cleveland, Ohio and no one has ever come up with a better system, until now.

A big improvement. I think.

Let me know what you guys think but I think this new design is better. It's an hourglass design which lets you know when the light will change so you don't have to guess.

This will make it much safer for vehicles approaching an intersection to know when to start braking, for instance.

And when you're sitting there at the light and it seems like it's taking forever, this will let you know how long of a wait you have. They're calling them Sandglass Signals and they're designed by Danko Designs:

Here's how they work:

The next one: Finally. Great looking solar panels

I know alot of people don't like Tesla but I think the guy is brilliant. His company now has structured glass solar panels that don't look like the bulky, unattractive glass boxes on your roof. The roof IS the solar panel. Check these out:

I'm glad I waited to get solar panels because of these. They're expensive of course, especially at first but you get a 30% tax credit from the government.

Number three

Ok, this isn't really an invention but it's so cool I decided to throw it in anyway. This beautiful beast is the Rezvani Tank X. They make it in California. It has a supercharged V8 engine with 1,000 horse power! lol.

source

The engine is from a Dodge Challenger Demon and this thing has some great features:

  • an EMP protection shield to ensure all electronics work in the case of EMP blast.

  • a night vision system

  • ballistic armor

  • Kevlar armor

  • bulletproof glass

  • military-grade run-flat tires.

source

Is that cool or what? Starts at $155,000 for a basic model but for one that's loaded with all the neat features and gadgets we're talking $400,000. lol.

These babies are pretty big too. Actor Jamie Foxx owns one, here he is getting out of his. He's 5 ft 9 so this shot gives you an idea of how big the Rezvani is:

source

A step comes out when you open the door and retracts when you close it.

I was really going to put it on my list until I saw the price tag! It'd be a great SUV to have if the stuff hits the fan but it needs luggage racks to hold gas cans because the beast is a gas hog!

Thanks for reading folks, God bless you all!

oh, I like your thinking paulag! Do you like the looks of this Tank X? I think it's super tough looking and it would be very safe, you wouldn't even have to worry about a flat tire. I bet it would get some stares in your neighborhood!

I would be the king of my hood if I had the tank X. Lol mammy gangster. I also like those traffic lights

lol! You'd be riding around up there in that Tank with tinted windows just watching everyone stare at you! I don't know if people here in Redneck country would comprehend the newfangled traffic lights but over there I bet they'd work beautifully!

I had read about those solar panels I think there a greta idea and may get more people into using them, not sure what I think about those traffic lights I can see some people getting totally confused by them , Some struggle already from what I see

Oh I think you're right about the solar panels, I think that will greatly increase their use. I thought the traffic lights would be easier for people to use but I don't know what the general population thinks, you may be right.

I'm sure they'll test them exhaustively and find out.

Ye sI am sure they will do some pilots of the traffic lights, I see many who seem to think that if it is green as the approach a light even if from half a mile away it means speed up and go through even if its changed to red y the time they get there, and I suspect some will see the timer on orange and think it means speed up and go for it

but maybe I am being negative, I do see myself the improvements they could provide and maybe people are more sensible in general and I am just thinking about the idiots out there who will always be idiots

Very true..lol...about the idiots. It would be interesting to see if it made the idiots more idiotic or less!

I could see people trying to race against the clock on that yellow light. Those solar panels are a good idea. Until I saw that the government is subsidizing them. (That would be considered a subsidy right?) That makes me suspicious.
Really, why do people in CA need a vehichle like that? I thought they are about saving the environment.

haha! Howdy hebrewhousewife! Well the feds are giving tax breaks to any kind of alternative power or even the latest efficient technology in appliances. Critics say it's the only way that solar companies stay alive at this point.

It just gives you another write off on your taxes, probably for a few years so if they're dumb enough to do it I'd sure take advantage of it.

I know we got a big tax deduction years ago in Ohio when we got a new furnace that was the latest efficency rated. I think it was $500. But I think the solar panels tax cuts are for 3 years.

As far as the CA SUV, lol..yeah you can find excess everywhere and out there you got so many wealthy clients to sell to! Money talks louder than the environment in most cases. What they need is an End Times, Mad Max, solar SUV like that!

The hour glass thing is pretty cool. Impulsive people will probably still try to blast through a light at the last second, but cool for responsible drivers. That SUV up there, I'm pretty sure that is actually a transformer. Any time now LA will have some sort of villain attack it, and all those movie stars' vehicles are going to burst through their garages and fight the good fight.

@janton, hope you're well. Great post, signals are super. We have some solar panels around Dubai too, more should be coming soon. The Rezvani is a cool one, Dodge Chargers are good cars. Interesting info here. Thank you 😊

Cool innovations! Especially the solar panels. I’m thrilled to see that and now I want some! The gas hog car is super cool but... I’m not a fan of stuff that actually uses more fossil fuels. We need to head the other direction! 😆

Howdy today jayna! I totally agree with you about the solar panels, I think they're a wonderful invention and that beast Tank X needs to be solar powered, especially if it's designed for a breakdown of society scenario like the chaos that could come after an EMP attack. Gasoline might not be available anyway.

Solar panels are a great idea, but it is not cost effective at the moment. Maybe this will get better over time.

Creative idea for traffic lights, but do you really need that? I don't think it serve any purpose at all.

Howdy sir mr. negative! lol..you may be right actually, about the traffic lights. I think they would help people to know when to stop so they don't get caught by surprise but I'm sure they'll do exhaustive research, testing and studies to determine that.

Yes, solar is only growing because of the huge subsidies, at least at the moment, but I think they'll turn that around eventually.

Hi janton, I am positive that the Rezvani Tank X is a fuel guzzler. Think of the costs janton, lol.

Howdy angiemitchell! I agree, now what they should do is make a big Solar Tank X, THAT would make sense for a survivalist vehicle. You could even run around in the Outback and survive!

Cowboy, I really like the idea of the roof being the solar panels. Tesla was brilliant.

The Suv vehicle looks too big for me and the price is too. 😂

Howdy again redheadpei! Does anyone do solar panels up there or are the winters too long and cloudy for that? The price on the Tank X is insane. lol.

Hi Cowboy. Solar panels are popular here but don’t look as nice as the ones hidden in the roof.

Howdy Sir @janton, those signal lights will not work here, as nobody stops at red lights anymore. I read about the Tesla invention and it looks so much better that those square panels. By the time that steem is up, the prices would have dropped Lol.

That Dodge tank is certainly something. Here is a photo of one that I took recently only because it reminded me about my childhood on a farm.
We had an old one with no doors or windscreen that was in everyday use to carry the milk cans. I learnt how to drive in it at the age of about 9, or 10.
My legs were too short to reach the pedals and a plan was made by having a farm worker operate the pedals, while I handled the steering of the thing hahaha.

Look at this baby!

Well Lord Fluffton is back! Hello there young wild animal of Texas! The traffic lights are a fancy idea. In New Zealand they actually had a count down timer in the middle of an orange/amber ring that counted down and gave you an idea of how long to wait so at least you could see what was going on.

The solar panels look pretty slick but they'd be useless in the UK most of the year due to the weather lol.

Only in 'MURICA would you come across a monster like that vehicle. You'd probably feel invincible driving it though I'd imagine!

By the way, you had a double sentence in towards the end which you may want to delete? The one below the final image is the same as the one above it (it is on Partiko anyway)

Sir nickyhavey! What the?? what a dumb mistake. How come no one else pointed that out to me? Thanks for that, I can't believe I made that big of a mistake. that looked really stupid. I think you should stop in every day and try to find a mistake. Of course you won't because that was the first one this year but you could try.

That monster vehicle, yeah they really need it to be Solar powered, then the Brits would like it!

The traffic lights with numbers are no good in redneck country, too confusing.

I see a mistake every time I come here and read a post by you Lord Janton lol.

That vehicle wouldn't work in the UK either if it's solar powered - it's too cloudy most of the time!

I forgot that rednecks can't count to 3, you're right, it would be too confusing.

lol! Thanks for realizing the counting problem sir nickyhavey. Well shoot, solar isn't a big thing there because of the weather? I agree, my whole blog is one big mistake! lol.

Some people use solar and you can see them dotted around the place, usually farms and houses in big open spaces but in the cities, not so much.

Howdy again sir nickyhavey! I like it when someone is big enough to admit they've made a pitiful blunder and are real dunderheads about something. lol. What is a motoring programme? They may be the biggest in Europe but is that really saying much? lol. Don't they make mostly double-decker buses and scooters? lol.

I used to drive an MG and then I later drove a Triumph.

Howdy Janton! The traffic lights are super impressive and so is are the solar roofs! Way the go Tesla.........I didn't know people don't like the company!

And what's up with this huge truck that is running on gas??? I mean it is cool, futuristic car, especially for rednecks, drug dealers, hip pop artists and other celebrities, lol. But why gas??? If it was at least hybrid!!!

lol! The bit about the car is so funny because I thought of you when I put that in there! And your list is hilarious...drug dealers, hip hop artists..lol.

Well, actually I thought that vehicle would be perfect if it was solar because it is designed as a survivalist SUV but if the grid went down or something then there probably wouldn't be any gas for it anyway so it needs to be solar.

Hey, for 400grand they should at least have a solar powered option!

Howdy Janton! I glad you found my comment amusing! And yes, solar would be great, but that's why I thought Hybrid. Having two options, in case one is not available!

Have no idea about coolness, but the solar tiles are rather nifty (although I'm not sure, that it's new, IIRC I saw something similar years ago, not by Tesla).

Those traffic lights are probably more confusing than what they had before. But, anyway, I have my very own cool (?) traffic light:
