How to Write an Introduceyourself Post For Good Results, in English and Spanish

When we start a new venture, most like to put their best foot forward, but in our case, we like to put both feet forward, as the greatest reward is watching other Steemians grow up in Steem and become successful.

AirplaneJamesanim1.gif

Since I have been working with @brittandjosie, 1/2 of the team of @heyhaveyamet with @xcountytravelers and she has been manually curating the #introduceyourself posts, I have been involved with making up short introduceyourself articles to put on one master Hey! Have Ya Met...? article to introduce these new Steemians and get them maximum exposure so they get noticed more.

So this is a post about what I think an Introduceyourself post should be like:

It should be structured around these eight suggestions:

  1. The introduceyourself tag should only be for a one time use to introduce yourself to the Steem community.
  2. The only other time suggested for using it is if you have been completely away from Steem for a period of time, so that some of the people you knew before might not remember you, and this would be an acceptable way of re-introducing yourself. Please note: nothing is more irritating than someone who has been here for a length of time that has a considerable amount of Steem built up and does NOT need the help, to be posting a #introduceyourself post in with these new Steemians who have basically nothing.
  3. And as long as we're on the #introduceyourself tag, it has been strongly suggested that if you are bilingual, to take and make two columns and do one side in English, and one side to do whatever language you are bilingual in. Please try and avoid making one whole post in English, and one whole post in the other language, as it will draw fire for plagiarizing, as it is duplicate material.
  4. It has been a suggested and acceptable practice to post a relatively current photo of yourself, with a piece of paper stating the date. If you would like to make an interesting opening post, perhaps add 2 or 3 other photos with brief description.
  5. It is definitely NOT recommended to post one generic photo with no accompanying information, like posting one picture, or no picture, and saying "Hi, I'm So and So, I'm new, support me".
  6. You need to tease and tantilize the Steem community, and leave them wanting more...
  7. It is not recommended to make an overly lengthy post either, consider somewhere between 200 and maybe 1,000 words. In general, not too little and not too much.
  8. DO remember to give credit for quotes, or writing from other authors, and credits for images that are not your original work! If you take the pictures in your post, it is advisable to state so either under the image or one general blanket statement at the bottom of your post that "These images were taken by me", and you could go into a little detail about what camera and settings, etc. Lots of people will think or say, I wonder what camera they used, or what phone did they use...

Así que esta es una publicación sobre cómo creo que debería ser una publicación de Introduceyourself;

Mucha gente pensará o dirá, me pregunto qué cámara usaron o qué teléfono usaron...

Thank you @brittandjosie...
I'd been mulling this over in my head for some time, and some of the people aren't sure what to write in a post like this. Plus I put the link to the Steem Terminal in there as well, so they can come in and get more info.

@JameRussell

Excellent tutorial on how to post an #introduceyourself blog...

As many might not know, you have been, and continue to be, a positive force in regards to the @heyhaveyamet community, as well as at the @steemterminal. Taking your time to help showcase new Steemians, get their story out there, provide not only wonderful exposure, but even an upvote...

On all of them...

In conjunction with @brittandjosie, @thekittygirl, @deriekrichardson, @xcountytravelers, and @medro-martin... what an AMAZING movement to help promote engagement, proper posting etiquette, and informative meaning.

I have known you for some time, and truly appreciate your support, friendship, and input. It's always those "behind the scenes" blazing the trail for others!

Well done, and thank you for sharing this valuable information and resource!!

Wes

Thank you @dreemsteem!
That does present a challenge to get them before they write a post, or possibly help them write a better one subsequently, I already know of a couple who have had to do that...

Thank you for visiting @anhvu, but I am not new here, I wanted this post in the closest possible vicinity of new Steemians to read this to help them make a decent and prosperous introduceyourself post;
And for information, I had Partiko, and cannot sign in on my phone, tried multiple times, and can't log in, so do not use my phone for this. It would be nice if they had the computer app as well as the phone, then I could use it on here...

Thank you @JamesRussell for sharing this link. I can only hope my introductary pair ticked all the boxes except the bilingual one as I know only Afrikaans and English. 😏 I did Resteem this so more people can read it. 12% voting power currently so can't vote. Sorry 🙏
