Community Curation Update!

Welcome everyone to a sweet update for @innerblocks and the community. Not community as in Communities on steemit.com, but community as in the Inner Blocks community on the Steem block chain. This may not seem like that big of a distinction, but in the future it just may be.

We wanted to take some time today and update everyone on what has been happening with Inner Blocks and some of the changes that we should be expecting.

I would like to start by thanking everyone that has been involved with the project up to date, we could not have done it without you all! There are so many projects that are budding all over the Blockchain, we are surely blessed by all of the participation and involvement.

Today I want to talk about curation. Curation always seems to be a word that we throw around here on the Blockchain, but what does it really mean? Is there a standard practice? Is there a standard method? Is there a consistent understanding of what is actually happening?...I don't think so haha.

When it comes to curating amazing content and amazing creators, Inner Blocks keeps it very simple. We are supporting real life. Real life, no kidding, personal experience. There is no real limit to what that could include, everyone is living their own life!

To judge someone's life as "quality" or not is not really what we are into. If someone is posting about their life and their experience, who are we to judge the quality of their life? Really what people are judging is someone else's ability to convey their life to us. Whether it is a long post, or a short post, or a video. You get it, it is all about selling themselves to someone else.

That is not what we are about. We are excited that someone is taking the time and sharing their experiences however it may look. We don't all have fancy cameras. We don't all have fancy computers. We don't all have the best internet connections or ability to connect. So we are here to see the real life on the other side of the post. Beyond the content there is a real person. We are curating their real experience.

I know what you are thinking....an experience.... Yes an experience haha. Not everything is super hands on like gardening. Maybe it is hiking. Maybe it is writing. Maybe it is photography. Maybe it is spiritual. What ever it is, it is an action on the part of the person to do something.

Speaking of action, let's talk about the curation process. Inner Blocks currently has a curation team of 20 people from around the world. Different countries, different cultures, and different languages. The team finds content from all ends of the world and brings them back to share with everyone.

The process is simple. When the curator is out enjoying posts and various content, they copy the URL and paste it in a certain channel of the Inner Blocks discord. There is a bot that will take it from there, it will upvote the post using the account @innerblocks and will leave a nice comment.

This is a pretty clever way to support many people. This is also a pretty popular approach to curating among many communities.

So the update is what is happening with the bot. Previously, we would all have to check the voting power and make sure that we didn't drop the vp below 80%. If it was too low, we would have to wait and not be able to curate.

Now, the bot is set to not vote below 80% and we don't have to worry about the vp. When the posts are in queue and the vp drops below 85%, it will just stop and wait. When the account goes back above 85%, it will start voting through the queue.

This is an amazing update for the community as a whole, and will make it even easily to continually support creators around the clock.

On average @innerblocks has been curating 170 posts a week. This has been pretty consistent for the last several weeks. I think that with these changes we will be above 200 very soon.

Everything that happens inside of Inner Blocks is voluntary. The curators are volunteers. The delegators are all voluntarily delegating to the project, and all returns are being powered up for continued project growth.

@innerblocks is currently at 15,679.64 Steem Power. That is 843.30 native SP and 14,836.33 that is delegated.

If you are interested in supporting amazing creators and real life content from around the world, please consider delegating to

Congratulations! Your post has been selected as a daily Steemit truffle! It is listed on rank 9 of all contributions awarded today. You can find the TOP DAILY TRUFFLE PICKS HERE.

I upvoted your contribution because to my mind your post is at least 3 SBD worth and should receive 175 votes. It's now up to the lovely Steemit community to make this come true.
