El día de hoy el tema propuesto es Dragón. Recordé la leyenda de San Jorge el cual era un soldado que nació hacia el año 275 o 280 (Siglo III d.C.) en Capadocia lo que ahora se conoce como Turquía , en la época del Imperio Romano y falleció el 23 de abril del 303 .

Cuenta la leyenda que un dragón vivía en un pantano a las afueras de una ciudad de Libia y diariamente los habitantes le ofrecían un sacrificio de animales e incluso de humanos para evitar que el monstruo destruya a los habitantes, el sacrificio era realizado al azar hasta que un día resultó ser elegida la princesa de la ciudad , una doncella que cuando estaba a punto de ser devorada por el dragón fue rescatada por el soldado Jorge en su caballo el cuál se enfrentó a la bestia y la mató, de la sangre que derramada por el dragón nació una rosa roja la cual Jorge obsequió a la princesa,
Los agradecidos aldeanos fueron convertidos al cristianismo abandonando el paganismo.

Esta leyenda fue considerada verdadera durante muchos siglos pero en la actualidad se considera simbólica, desde ese entonces existe la costumbre de que cada 23 de abril el hombre regale una rosa roja a la mujer amada como símbolo de su amor.
