I'm watching... When My Love Blooms

With everything going on right now I figured I couldn't be the only one binge watching shows on the daily and thought maybe now's the time to start a new blog series.

I'm watching...

My guilty pleasure and binge choice are Kdramas (korean dramas).

Peoples... If you haven't jumped on the kdrama train yet, at least give one a go to see what the fuss is all about especially if you've run out of shows.

These guys seriously know what's up when it comes to viewer satisfaction. It's like they have a recipe they follow.

  • Beautiful cast
  • Lovable and relatable characters.
  • Good story.
  • Plot twist.
  • Make it short and sweet.

They're so good I go through at least 1 show a week and that's totally possible since there's usually about 16 episodes per show. No western style of dragging a storyline across years here.

It's like every part of the story has meaning and relevance. No useless filler episodes that are there "just cos".

Right now I'm watching..

When My Love Blooms

The story centres around Ji-soo (Lee Bo-young) and Jae-hyun (Yoo Ji-tae), university sweethearts. They were each other's first love. Their love was sweet, beautiful and burned so brightly but due to a series of unfortunate events they broke up. Fast forward to 20 years later they meet again and despite the years they're still drawn to each other like moths to a flame.

Problem is he's still married, unhappily so and she's divorced (or separated) but her ex is still being a pain in the arse.

Sprinkle in his father in law, her father (with dementia), assorted side characters and you have a pretty gripping and emotional drama.

There's a lot of flash backs that adds to the suspense and makes you want to keep watching so you can piece together what happened to them in the past.

Its actually quite genius the way they've put this show together.

I'm halfway through it so absolutely no spoilers here from me (I hate those people!)

What I can tell you is I'm hooked and really loving this show.

It's sweet and sad to the point of almost being tragic so I'm really hoping things work out for these guys.

What I've learned from these shows is that they're not afraid of sad endings. It's totally possible for these guys to not end up together.

What are you watching?

Have you seen “it’s okay not to be okay”? It’s the most popular and newest kdrama at the moment and I only just finished it as it came out two weeks ago! It’s so good!

And yes I hate filler stuff, I totally prefer they get to the point and give us amazing touching scenes haha
