New Work, and New News!

Hello everyone!

So I have yet again been MIA for a while here on Steemit.
I have been working on a music project this last year that finally made some headway. I am very excited to announce that it was picked up by a small label and will be released in April!
I can't quite give more details such as the label or the title and artwork yet, but once the time comes I will share it with you all.

That being said, since that project has finished it is time for me to finally start my larger project Night Terrors. This project has been in the works for a few years now, but I did not want to start on it until I felt my skill was up to the job. So I have been working on smaller projects along with Second Wind to put in the time to get some practice and build my confidence for this story.

It is our intention for this to be a large graphic novel, which each section released as an issue. At the moment we are looking at the completed work being around 400 pages or so. The first three issues are already written by my creative partner, and I have begun work on character studies.

This book will be in color, which is a major jump for me. Most of the things I do are black and white. So I recently purchased some alcohol based markers to try out.
You see, digitally coloring pieces takes a LONG time for me. This is due to the unlimited amount of colors you have at your disposal. If you look at my previous post showing the cover for Second Wind, well, that piece took me nearly three months to finish! I needed a way to limit my options and cut down on time to be able to do this book, so I am experimenting with alcohol based markers.

In the end I will probably still color it digitally, but I will establish the colors using the markers so that I know what my color pallet will be.

Below are the current studies for the protagonist and antagonist of the story. These are not necessarily final designs nor color choices, but they are the beginning steps. These all combine both Copic brand markers along with the much cheaper Ohuhu markers.
Unfortunately I can definitely tell the difference between the pricier Copics versus the cheap Ohuhu. The Ohuhu markers are fine, but they look more like your typical water based marker would as apposed to the smooth fluid look of the Copics.

I will continue to post more progress as it comes. I hope you enjoy what there is so far!
