Weekend Checkin - Hanging out in the willows

(Edited)

Hey Wild Team! How goes your weekend? I'm writing to you all from my willow patch after finishing a deer fence and fixing my main gate.

Let me know what you have been up to this weekend in the comments!

And watch for my new post on Tuesday all about live stakes. All the willows around me right now started out as sticks stuck into the ground.

Getting ready to get ready for fall! I found out I'll need 16 truck beds of wood chips after the leaves all come down. Been making compost/sheet mulch of the beds in the forest, just composting the old plants in place. I'll be putting down a couple inches of leaves underneath the wood chips instead of using cardboard. Things are gonna get pretty intense I think lol

Lots of wood chips! I'm in a similar boat as you. I got about 40 cubic yards of wood chips sitting at my place and I'm getting some more soon. Plus fall leaves! Lots of mulching but fall is a good time for it. Good luck and thanks for sharing!

Haha... I have had that experience with live stakes too!! It looks "dead" and so you use it for a garden stake, and then suddenly..... LOL..... a line of young trees appears! It happened to me with moringa. :)

Lol, good to know that works with moringa! I might give that a try. Moringa is one of the warm climate plants I want to try to grow here. Thought about starting a bunch from seed and see if any can survive the winters here. Be fun to try.

Thanks for sharing and I will check the link out!

For tomatoes, I grew Early Girl, Amish Paste, Roma, San Marzano paste, Brandiwine, and Black Krim varieties.
For potatoes, I grew Red Kennebec, Yukon Gold, Russet white, Goldrush Russet, and Adirondack Blue.
I like to grow several varieties of each. :-)
