A frosty morning

Man it is chilly this morning!
The girls were out early today, they have been restless lately because they could sense a cold front coming. They were eager for the storm to pass so they could enjoy the quiet days on pasture again.
The falling leafs from the old willow seems te be their favorite treat this time of year.

Speaking of leafs, our mini food forest is finally starting to look like a mini forest. Now that the trees are dropping their leafs you can see the ground starting to shift from pasture to forest floor. Also the silhouette of the trees rises from the tall grass and becoming clearly visible. I need to send in the chicken cleanup crew in spring to get the base of the trees cleared again, right now I'm leaving that cover for winter.

The cleanup crew is currently working in one of the raised beds. This bed had a good amount of weeds in them since I couldn't tend to all of the garden space due to health issues.
The chickens did a good job clearing the bed.

I'll leave them a little longer and put a tarp on the area when they are done.
