Missouri Barn

avatar
The lovely barn situated in this snow-covered field in central Missouri (US) was shot and shared with me by @wesphilbin. Wes says the property is owned by one of the prominent families of the area. Although the nearby town is named Versailles after the French palace, the name of the town is pronounced differently, as “Ver-sails” rather than “Ver-seye”  [source]

Wes says that three other barns were located on the property close to this one, but were demolished recently. We're lucky that this one is still standing! It is such an unusual, asymmetrical shape, and looks lovely in the field. Thank you for sharing this with us, Wes! 😃

A portion of the rewards on this post goes will go to Wes!

Thank you for sharing my photo @thekittygirl! I've thought of getting this shot for you many times, but the snowfall we've had recently seemed to say, "now's the time to share"...

Appreciate your support, kindness, friendship, and AWESOME editing skills

That would be up to @wesphilbin ~ I know he has some health issues, and not sure how comfortable he would be asking permission.

@kerrislravenhill,

Hello! As @thekittygirl mentioned, I suffer from Multiple Sclerosis... so getting out to try and get screens of the inside might not be doable. Not to mention it's on private property... but I never say never... so if I get a chance to visit with the owners... I will ask :)

All of the barns here in Missouri look like this one. The slanted roof and abrupt cutoff are part of the aerodynamic design. Are you telling me this is not the way they look elsewhere?
